Problems after installing new shift cable

I installed a new shift cable because the original one was shot. I got everything hooked up correctly but now the alignment of all the gears are all wrong. I go into reverse its in between park and reverse, when its between reverse and neutral its in neutral, when its in neutral its in drive. When i put it in neutral, im actually in drive. when i go to the regular d drive gear, im in the 2nd d drive actually.

Mainly my problem is park. I drove it for 2 weeks with it out of alignment because it still worked, but you would have to always force it into park for it to be in park.

Today i tryed adjusting it, and i didnt get any improvement. I moved the piece as far forward as it will go and re connected the shift cable to it, and all seemed good when i cranked it up and put it into reverse all gears seemed to be in alignment again. But then i lost park.

Its everytime i shift into any other gear it will be firm like it should. Its soft everytime i go to put it in park and i have to hear it make this click noise to know its in park barely.

Any ideas what could be wrong? or if i did anything wrong?
