200c third gear problem

I have a 1983 Trans Am 305 and a TH200C. I was driving it for quite awhile when out of nowhere it started having a hard time going into third gear. Reverse, first and second all shift fine but when it should shift into third it doesn't. It just goes from second to third whenever it feels like it, sometimes it'll wind up to 4000rpm before it shifts. Anyone hear of this before?

Re: 200c third gear problem

OK no one answered yet but I'm going to add what else I found out. It's got clean trans. fluid and it's the correct level. When driving it doesn't shift until you let go of the gas, then it shifts into gear hard. Anyone?
