I'm dumping my 700R4 in favor of a TKO600, but I'm wondering what to do with the 700R4. It's slipping in 1st and reverse which I'm told is a rebuild condition, but I also hear it's one of the more desirable later model 700R4's that's got better standard components. So is this worth anything? Maybe as a starting point for someone who wants to do a performance rebuild?

Well a trans that isn't working isn't worth a whole lot but its worth something as a core depending on the year of the transmission. Earlier 700r4s arnt worth much as they had issues. The early 82-84 i think arnt worth anything to anyone who knows about these transmissions. 85-87 have some value (less that $75). Later 87-93 700r4s have some value. Im in the process of searching for one and have gotten offers $75-$100 depending on shape.
Im located in CT. If you were near by I would be interested in it. I dont know how much it costs to ship a trans but it it was cost effective i could do that too.
700R4 cores are worth $75-$125. If you are looking for one, use the 1988 and up, make sure they are a "virgin" core if possible. In otherwords "no paint" on them, fluid is red to brown (no water), (not black or with metal in it). You don't want someone else's problems. You might be looking a little longer, but it is worth it in the long run.
There hard to sell because there of no use to people who cant rebuild them and thats like everyone lol. You really have to find the right person but people do buy them. Its a shame to have scrapped 3 of them it seems like around where i am to get a good price on a core is nearly imposable lol. lol i would have been more than happy to take them off your hand and saved you a trip to the dump lol.
