700 R4 - Shifts Hard out of Park

Hello all,

Just purchased a '83 Z28 and it jerks hard when going from Park to Drive, all the other gears are fine the transmission fluid is colored normally (red)

-my question(s) is I heard this can be the motor mounts / transmission mount..I haven't looked at the motor mounts yet, the transmission mount looks good (nothing broken), maybe it needs to be tighted?? haven't tried that yet. If the motor mounts are bad or a bolt is bad will it require me to pull the engine out to replace them...could they just be loose?

the transmission does have a shift kit so the hard shifting could of loosend the bolts...?

It has a quadajet carb, could the detent cable need adjusting? Thanks in advance for the help, this is my first post and i'm a novice at cars so just trying to learn as much as I can on my own.

the detente cable probably does need adjusted i would research that for an old post. most likely your motor mounts are fine. as for the transmission mount make sure that its fine by taking a pry bar and prying upward on it (see if it separates). the only other thing you have to worry about is the torque arm mount and lca bushings which you would test the same way. just opposites in a way.
