Eh i got under my car while replacing the clutch found out i have a broken torque bar broke down by the rear end bolts just wondering if i can get one off a 91 firebird or are the different just wondering before i get underneath a car and pull it out to find out it doesnt work..
Do you mean the torque arm? I have no diea what a torque bar is. Anyway, if it's the torque arm, tehy should all fit except for maybe the 1982 versions that had the other transmission. But any 700r4/T5 torque arm will fit. I think even a 4th gen torque arm will fit.

Just so you Don't get the wrong idea Fourth Gen Torque arm are diferent and won't work on a third Gen.
got my torque arm came off a camaro berlinetta it fit in pretty nice had to fight it a bit it looks a lil different then the one i had on it the one i had had holes in it the new one is solid
i have a 86 iroc-z and the torque arm came out of the bushing by the transmission. it stripped the threads in the tranny where the bolt goes in.. can i run a tap threw it to re-thread it?? or what can i do to fix this?
the tq arm bushing mount isnt screwed into the tail housing... they are bolted through it... bolt and nut. just get new bolts right DIA and length with nuts...ud prob get away with grade5 but id use grade 8. u can get them anywhere. i took mine off bc i installed a jegster tubular tunnel mount tq arm.
Not true on T-5s. on auto trans' the bolt goes through the tail housing, but on T-5 trannys the top bolt threads in to the aluminium tail housing, and can easily strip out if over tightened.

WOW that must be a really H.O. 305 in goldenbullet44's car to break the torque arm
lol i kno... ive seen them on 9sec cars in the 1/4!! and they work fine.
lol shift through the gears until POP! then u can pull over and pick up the T5 thats laying all over the ground lol. personally i like to keep one hand open for the ladies doesnt matter tho, manuals are fun which is why i made mine so i can shift manually and your faster/more consistent with an auto at the track
it never actually broke the arm its self..it striped the bolt that holds it together on the tail housing..i was just wondering if i can drill and tap that to a bigger size?..i havnt had the car that long yet so there lots of projects to go. but with that T5 and 3:73's not much on the top end, after i get this set-up fixed im going to try 3:42's

Its not the power that would have broke it, stuff rusts and weakens over time. IN some places in the world we have to deal with snow and salt in the winter.
I hooked up pretty good when it snapped. heh i blew the engine though i really liked that 305 ran its arse off i have 3 cylinders that have no compression what so ever so i grabbed me a 350 and trying to put that together right now but i think your correct my torque bar was pretty rusted.
