Transmission lockup question 700r4

I got a 385 fast burn crate motor recently with a built 700r4. Becuase i am going carb on the engine my lockup on my tranny wont work, right? I read on the tech articles that you can make up your own lockup but it goes through your aldl plug. Dont you need your computer to use that? and if I keep the computer in the car, but obviously most of the sensors wont be plugged in, would the lockup switch work?Ide like to have lockup but without the computer fully engaged will the switch still work?

Re: Transmission lockup question 700r4

The best solution for you would be either this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-70244/ if you have a cable type speedometer, or this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-70248/ if yours is non-cable, or this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRF-60109/ which isn't adjustable, but it doesn't care which type of speedometer you have.

Re: Transmission lockup question 700r4

What I did is remove my pan and wired the tcc solenoid ground to the pressure switch bypassing the temp switch so when the trans is in o.d. and pressure is reached the switch grounds activating the solenoid. I also need to connect a 12 source to the A terminal of the 4 pin trans connector which I ran through my brake switch and a toggle switch for control of the circuit. I have not run my car yet but this should work.

Re: Transmission lockup question 700r4

you could also just wire it to lock up in 4th gear OR when you turn the switch on manually.
a 700r4 will lock up in any gear but 1st (for obvious reasons) so if you manually tell it to lock up it will do it in any gear at less than 50% throttle (i believe)

Or you could just put a non-lockup converter on it. Thats what I did. You will just lose a couple hundred rpms in OD.
