Car: 1983 Firebird, 1989 Firebird Engine: 2.8L V-6 2bbl, 305 V-8 4bbl Transmission: 200C Metric, 700R-4 Axle/Gears: Stock | Transmission leaking | Hey all since I have gotten such great help with my other posts in engines, I figured maybe I could get some assistance from the GURUS here. First I had trouble with my valve covers leaking and that problem is now fixed, then I found my starter wire on the header and burnt that wire so it would not start, replaced and now she starts right up fine. But i smelled a burning odor not like oil or grease and found my tranny was leaking. So I check obvious parts for loose bolts (trans pan, housings, etc.) I found that all my trans pan bolts were barely hand tight, so I tightened them all. Now as I cleaned all the gunk off the undercarriage of my bird and trans I find that, there is a slight line of trans fluid running down my cooler line. I first checked the connections at the radiator and there is no fluid on the bolts. Where could it be coming from???? Any ideas out there? The fluid is traveling from the front to back so I figure must be something above it near the engine, just not sure what may do it. And how do I tell what trans I have? I know what a TH350 from previous camaros and birds I have owned looks like and I am almost sure thats not what I have. | | | |
