700r4 overdrive problems need help

i have a 89 iroc z tbi 305 with 700r4 iam needing info on why my overdrive stoped working...does the tv cable need to be reset or what it doesnt slip but it does shift hard into second like it has a shift kit in it its been like this since i bought it few months ago ive replaced the tranny fluid with lucus fluid and replace the filter but no changes it does shift smoother

its second one ive bought other one is 88 iroc tpi

man i have the same problem ever sense i got my transmission rebuilt but i still get the same gas mileage somewhat between 12-23 mpg at like 55 mph i at almost 2200 rpm

yeah same here i cruze mostly around 60 at 2500 rpm that extra gear is handy when driving a long distance iam going to go by a local transmission shop and ask then and ill post what they tell me they have 3 year 75000 mile warrenty on there stuff they do seem to be good place there always busy

a other thing did u check your fluid level
AAMOCO where i had my trans rebuild overfilled my trans up to the little bent piece. but i had that taken care of 2 days after it was done and check on a 2nd trans cooler it helps keep them temp low

adjust the detent cable and see if that helps if the valve body isnt working properly then it feels like the tranny is going out

the adjustment it on the throttle body there should be two cables going to your throttle body one is the detent and one is the cruise control. have someone hit the gas pedal so your are at wide open throttle there should be a clip on one of the cables you release the clip and while the gas pedal is still depressed you pull the cable snug leave a very small amount of slack now release the pedal and make sure the blades close all the way in the throttle body now go for a drive is shoule shift very precise after that is not then take some slack out should be no more than 1/8 of an inch of slack

yea man the shifts are soooo smooth now 55 at 1700-1500 rpm and i can hit 125 now lololol it's crazy what a simple cable can do
