700R4 wont shift down around corners

I think somethings wrong with my trans. When going around a corner, the car feels like it has no power due to being in a higher gear than it should. What i have to do is give it a bit more gas to make it shift down and then its fine.

For example it feels like when in a manual trans car, if you were entering a corner in say 4th and slowing and down about 20 mph, and try leaving the corner in 4th when you should be in 2nd.

What can be causing this?

Just a side note, from a start, if i get on it hard, the car wont spin the tires. This is with the 3.27 gears and the 350 engine (the engine mechanically is running perfect.)

does it feel like its slipping? could be a torque converter.

No, it really doesnt feel like its slipping. Then again i have never driven a car with a slipping torque converter.

Its weird, sometimes if i get on it hard from a stop going around a corner, it will feel really docile, then somedays, like yesterday, i got on it hard around a corner and the car stepped out and spun the tires like crazy, huge amounts of smoke etc. In a straight line though, it never spins them, the most i have ever gotten is a little "squeek".

Was just thinking. Could i have a slight RMS leak thats making the converter slip a little. I know thats possible on manual trans cars.
