Since I installed my used T56 from a 97' it allways pops out of reverse and grinds. It never seems to engage too much. I can get it to stick enough to get out the driveway. I did not hook up my reverse lock out switch.
The guy I bought it from sayed it did it before too
only dose it in reverse, no other gears
any ideas? common prob?
Im pretty mecanical but trannys are kind of unnerving to me so if its pretty easy maby I could DIY.

The T56 has a bronze synchro on Rev. It wears quickly and most T56's need Rev rebuilt as a result. I like putting a carbon fiber synchro on reverse when I can, really helps a rebuild last longer than normal.
Anyone have a part # or instructions on exactly how to do this?
I also heard T56s have a weak 3-4 shift fork should I replace that too while im in there? maby some kind of rebuild kit? Id prefer to only tear in to her once.
checkout thegearbox.org in their T56 section.. They have the 3,4 steel fork, the bronze fork pad set, billet keys for 1,2 and 3,4 (5,6 too if your able), a complete carbon-fibre blocker ring set. There are a few T56 rebuild websites/links if you're going to DIY. Check out ls1tech.com for a few and google will turn up a bunch. Reverse uses the same size blocker ring as 3,4 (I'm pretty sure, I can double check and get back if you're interested). The kit will have the bronze one.
