700R4 Shifting problems

I'm new to working on cars and kind of learning as i go so sorry if I've already read the answer to my problem cause there were i few threads i read and just didn't understand...

I bought a 88 Camaro a few months back and flushed it and did a filter kit... but it was too late... third gear stripped out.

Fast forward a few months I bought another 700r4 from a junkyard and got it in. It will get up to about thirty and the rpms will fly up to about 4500 and the mph will creep up to 40 and then if you let off it will shift and then from there on its fine untill you come to a stop again.

I've read something about the cable that runs from the trans to the throttle body... and about the govenor and some springs and pins... any ideas? are those my problems? is this trans screwed too?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

It's not a detent cable, it's a TV CABLE - there's a tech article on adjusting it properly - unless it's done right, you can fry the tranny quick.
