Re: th350 shift question

how about just putting the shifter in second. it should hold second if not you got issues.

Re: th350 shift question

i can keep it in second manually and it does fine, it has a th350, its just a kick down cable and I had it connected and it did not change. I then connected it and still the same exept it kicks down a gear like it supposed to when I am cruising.....i think my timing may be a tad off because it sounds kinda like a spark knock under a load. I still think my tranny is shifting too soon though.

Re: th350 shift question

you can adjust the kickdown (detent) cable. the further out the cable is pulled the longer it takes to shift into the next gear.

.

not on a th350, shift points are controlled by the vacuum modulator. the cable is just to kick it out of third when passing/accelerating. if you have an adjustable modulator on the trans that can tuned to your liking pull the vacuum line and theres an allen head in there 9/32nds i believe. whats your timing set at?

Re: th350 shift question

thanks guys, i adjusted the modulator a little and i think i adjusted it too much, now second gear is QUICK! i mean it lasts like three seconds lol. I dont have a timing light, I have been playing iwht it, i use the fender trick, i disconnect the vaccum advance and i hold the gas at about 2k and move the dizzy til the fender feels smooth and the car sounds responsive. and now it starts up fine and shuts off fine. I kept backing timing off a TAD until the dieseling goes away, but now theres crappy power. I am losing it
