Car: 1991 Z/28 1LE Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: 700R4 Axle/Gears: 3.42 | Stock 700r4 capability? Currently driving a 305 TPI z/28, mildly ported stock heads, exhaust work, ported runners, converted to ram air. I'm also in the process of building a 350 for the car, going with a streetable cam, nothing too severe as it's a DD, probably 2.02" heads, maybe smaller, not sure yet, stealth ram setup, headers, etc.
What I need to know is how much power can I safely pump through my stock 700r4? It's got about 30,000 miles on a rebuild, I don't want to grenade it, so I'm just wondering whether or not I should go ahead and get a stronger transmission, or is the stock one safe?
I'm shooting for ~300whp. | | | |
