TKO good for daily driver?

Just wondering how the TKO 500 will compare to the T5 as a daily driven transmission. Of course I would be getting it to handle power, but maintenance, wear and tear, ease of shifting, short city trips, etc are all concerns on a street car. Can anybody give a comparison?

TKO is the same basic synchronized design as the T5, T56, 3550, etc. and would have no different daily driven traits than those production models.

WHY? There's nothing in the transmission to cause difficult stop and go driving.. Ford put the TR3550 in the mustangs and it's the same transmission for all intensive purpose..

I am driving a 5.0 mustang right now with a 5 speed. Stop and go traffic sucks... Makes your legs tired.

wow...
i was just referring to having to shift, and use the clutch a lot in stop and go driving, leg gets tired, ect. Never mentioned the trans was at fault or not working well in traffic. sorry if i somehow confused people.

for the OP, i would get the tko600, same price and the first gear isnt as low.

Sounds like a clutch or hyd problem, not the transmission...

Wow is right.. I haven't seen one post on here yet dealing with what difference the TKOs would be daily driving, vs any other manual transmission....

im not saying its any different, im just saying that manual trans cars can be a pain to drive stop and go for extended periods of time. Are we on the same page yet?

well, sorry for commenting that i like the trans and would DD it if i had to, like i said in my first post, which has something to do with his question. You started picking my post apart and going in a different unrelated direction, all i did was make a generalized comment about manual transmissions in general. I understand what you are saying and do not disagree with any of it, and hopefully you can understand what i was trying to say.

Yes the tko shifts like any other manual trans, its a little clunky shifting, but nothing major. The stock shifter that comes with it made by hurst, kind sucks, i just swapped mine out for a Steeda tri-ax and its noticeable smoother. They are built really well and i dont think you will see and wear issues at an earlier time than any other manual trans.

The only thing thats a little off with the trans in a 3rd gen is that its a little too tall to fit in the tunnel properly, the trans will sit with the tail shaft point down slightly. Doesnt seen to have cause any drivetrain angle issues in my car and have not heard anything from any other tko owner about issues with the downward angle

and again, the tko500 has a very low first gear, which is a littel much, the tko600 has a better first gear ratio IMHO
