Re: How to pick press in wheel studs ?

Safest way is to measure the holes in the axle with a dial caliper. Knurled dimentions will be slightly larger than the hole for a proper press fit.

Take an axle to the auto parts store and get the right studs. Forget Summit and get them local. You probably need a 610-186 stud. which is the 7/16 stud that was used in the early Camaros and Chevelles.

Re: How to pick press in wheel studs ?

Do you know the original knurl size of the studs that came out? If so, get some new ones that are slightly larger for a tight fit. One thing I don't understand is....why 7/16 studs? I would use 1/2" 7/16 is so tiny (all C2 and C3 vettes have them and I upgraded to 1/2" because they are that iffy)

These are bran new axles.7/16 is close to the stock 12mm studs and they have been holding fine. I dont need 1/2 studs I think its overkill for my car i'm only put down 400hp at the crank and plus I dont think they would fit my cragar ss/t rims anyway.

Re: How to pick press in wheel studs ?

Cragar rims have what, lugs with a .685 shank size? You can simply get 1/2-20 lug nuts for that shank size
