Strange Pro Street Gears WTF ?

So I order these gears

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/STR-RS01875410/

My order from Summit just arrived and there are to PN# stickers on the box. One is for the Pro Street gears and the other PN# is G875410. I plug it into summit and I get this

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MGR-G875410/

Its a Motive gear. And its $10 cheaper. WTF

Does anyone know if Strange and Motive a partners ? And is the gear set still good ?

Re: Strange Pro Street Gears WTF ?

As far as I know Strange and Motive are not partners. Motive is made in Itally. The ring gear should have a mark on it. Does it have the Strange mark or the Motive mark?

Motive is good quality. You shouldn't have any problems with it.

Both are good brands. Could just be a mistake on Summits end. The numbers are they same between the two...one has "G" in front of it, the other "RS01". I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'm worried about it. I ordered Strange prostreet gears. I got what looks like motive gears and there $10 cheaper. Why are both companies stickers on the box is what I would like to know. I'm calling Strange in a bit to get to the bottom of it.

Was it is a Strange or Motive box? If it wasn't in either one then I'd send it back and tell them to send the gear that you ordered. If it's made in Korea then it might not be Strange or Motive. I don't know of either one of these companies making their gears there.

I couldn't open the attachment. If I ordered a Strange gear then I would expect to have a Strange gear. If I ordered a Chevy truck I wouldn't take a Ford.

Re: Strange Pro Street Gears WTF ?

Just got off the phone with Strange and these gears are going back. They stated the the majority of gears are made in Italy and most recently they tried a place in Korea. They said the Italian gears setup beautifully but the Korean gears dont and whine. He couldnt believe I had a set because they were suppopse to be rejected back to Korea. Now I have to see what summit has in stock because I dont want the same crap gears if I exchange these.

That's odd for Summit to do that!! to send it back! Are they paying for return shipping & dropping the restock fee since it wasn't even supposed to available?

Summit told me they dont even stock them it shipped direct from Strange. Then emailed me a UPS label and didnt charge me a re stocking fee. They just refunded me my money. Now I just have to shop around for some new gears. I'm guessing my only other choice are Ricmonds in a 4.10.

Re: Strange Pro Street Gears WTF ?

i had horrible luck when i purchased my strange rear end last year.
To make a story short, they sent me another gear set and said motive gear and said made in korea, just like yours. Anyways we set it perfectly and the car made such a loud whining noise that you had to wear earplugs, they are COMPLETELY JUNK!!!. Go with another company, like moser or richmond.
sorry just had a really bad experience with them
