Car: 85' Z-28 Engine: LB9 Transmission: WC T-5 Axle/Gears: 28-Spine / 3.42 | Speedo drive gear problem Alright, so the car has been in storage for a long while and the speedo worked fine. Now it does not. I pulled the driven gear to get a look, and it seems that the drive gear slipped up the shaft. I did all of this a long while ago, so I don't remember if I had a new clip or not. What is usually causes this so I can prevent it from happening again? I read a bad speedo cable can cause it? I can manually spin the end of cable, and the speedo moved, so It seems that the cable is fine. The only other thing I can think of is my torque arm came loose, and either the tail shaft or the torque arm were slamming into the bottom of the car under acceleration, or if I shifted too hard.
Anyways, I need to fix this, so can I take the tail shaft off with out removing the trans? And where can I get a new clip if mine is mangled? | | |
