T56 clutch slave

Swapped the T56 into my 89 T top car, the clutch doesnt want to depress. Anyone have a clue? I am assuming that it is the clutch fork not on where it is supposed to be? I will try again tomorrow and pull the trans back out if i cannot get it to work.

Never had this problem before on my LT1 car.

The clutch wont depress if the master rod is fully extended... is it compressed at all down there? I cant imagine it wouldn't be.. but who knows?

The rod from the slave is compressed into the trans and is in the pocket in the clutch fork, though?

Re: T56 clutch slave

Yep, it was, i removed it to see if it would let the pedal move in, it didnt. Weird as hell. Stiff as can be like something is wrong with the master.

Can you compress the slave rod back into it by hand? I've seen them get hyd-locked when pumped out of the car, but usually compressing the slave rod will release it.

If not, you might try removing the line from the slave and seeing if you can pump fluid from the master? The Master may just be bad or need rebuilt? How long was the master/slave out of a car before you got them?

Re: T56 clutch slave

Well, had to pull the trans back out, the damn fork was not on right. CRAZY, never had it happen before and i have done my fair share of T56 installs.

Now the SOB has a grinding noise when it is disengaging the clutch. Shimmed it as far as possible and it helps, but if i go further than 3/4 clutch to the floor, it makes a damn crazy noise.

Sucks, but it works great besides the noise, so i will live with it.
