TV Cable and swapping carbs

I've only have a small amount of very basic experience working on automatic transmissions, and have never even changed the filter on a 700r4. So I need to know- If I replace my distributor and computer controlled quadrajet out for a non-computer controlled quadrajet, will the TV cable on my 1983 700r4/305 just go right back on in the same place, assuming all my bracketry and mounting is the same between the two carbs? Or will I have to do a TV cable adjustment with the new carb after "disturbing" the original setup?

Also, can I just put a switch inline on the wires for the lockup torque convertor to manually actuate it if I'm no longer using the ECM on the car?

You can use the stock TV cable, but you will need a new cable bracket possibly. You'll also need a TV cable geometry corrector - which one depends on the carb you swap to - there are several available for different carbs - search geometry corrector at Summit and you'll see them.

You WILL need to readjust the cable once the swap is complete.

I'm assuming you can utilize the wiring at the ALDL connector to actuate the TC lockup, but the ECM will have to be installed in the car - it doesn't have to be connected to the distributor or carb sensors, but it would have to be in the car (if that makes sense). Again, this is an assumption. I removed my ECM, so I used a lock up kit. B&M makes a lockup kit that doesn't require dropping the tranny pan to install, but it's pricey at $159.

Just installed this kit yesterday, was a easy to do. Took me a couple of hours. I was taking my time too. Also you can adjust to what ever speed you want. That TV cable thing has to be right on the money I have found out with mine. I have the new brakets on the way.

Thanks for the answers, but I must not be explaning myself correctly. I would be removing the computer controlled Quadrajet and unhooking the transmission TV cable from the carb during removal.
Then I would be re-installing another Quadrajet that (hopefully I can rig up and have the same bracketry) is almost exactly the same as the one I removed, except that it will not have the wiring and electrical connector going to the distributor and ECU on the carb like the original one did. So the TV cable and brackets should (that's my plan anyway) be the same and hook up the same way as the old carb did. I will not be changing to any other kind of carb, and what I put back on is going to very nearly duplicate what I took off. I've selected a Q-Jet that very closely resembles my original unit.

So my question is, will I loose the TV cable adjustment just by the act of removing the cable from where it hooks up to the old carb? Or can I just hook it up to the new carb, just like on the original carb and be OK?

And without any need for the computor, and removing it from the car, are the wires coming out of the transmission connector for the lockup function just switching on and off and making or breaking an electrical control circuit to control the torque convertor lockup, or is there more than that involved? Can I just control that by hooking up a toggle switch to the lockup wires?

Not sure on the lock up wiring - as I understand it, the ECM controls the lockup function, so you may have to leave the ECM in tact (just not controlling engine function) in order to toggle a switch for the lockup.

I'd still adjust the TV cable to make sure it's correct - it's a simple 2 minute procedure. Given that frying the tranny is possible very quickly if it's wrong, I'd definitely re-adjust it.
