700r4 to 350 turbo swap!

I recently bought a 350 turbo with a 2500 stall and shift kit. I currently have a 700r4 in my 1985 z28 with a new 355 motor. Just curious before i make the swap if I have to buy anything new for example a torque arm bracket or a torque arm. I also have a new b&m console shifter and from what i have read the shifter will work with a turbo 350. So in simple terms what am I going to need to make the swap, what doesn't exactly match up switching transmissions.

Re: 700r4 to 350 turbo swap!

the dipstick and tube are different, speedometer will need to be calibrated, the kickdown cable is different and you'll need to run a vacuum line to the modulator. depending on if the th350 is a long or short tail (output) shaft will determine the length the drive shaft will need to be, and last but not least you'll need that bracket to mount the torque arm. if its a long tail shaft, you may be able to use a spacer and the original 700r4 tail housing.

Re: 700r4 to 350 turbo swap!

The transmission is a short tail so i don't have to modify the driveshaft.

Re: 700r4 to 350 turbo swap!

the short tail 350 is shorter than the 700r4 by at least 3 inches maybe 4"

So do I need a long tail end 350 turbo so that I don't have to modify the driveshaft

That is correct

You need the 9" tail to work with the old driveshaft not the 6" tail.
