Speedometer correction HELP

From the factory my camaro had a 2.73 gear since it has been changed to a 3.73 , and my speedo reads way off, My understanding is that runs off a speed sensor on the transmission, how can I get the correct speed to register.

Re: Speedometer correction HELP

You need to change one or both of the speedo gears in the transmission tail housing, not sure which. The ratio is determined by the color of the gears and there are several different colors available. Also, if your car has the electronic speed sensor you may need to change the permanent magnet generator, because I do not think that gear alone is replaceable. Also the tail shaft has 2 mounting holes for the drive gear you may or may not need to move the gear to the other hole, if things don't fit back in right.
Do a search and you should be able to find the right combination.

Hey, DC,

Welcome to TGO. As you'll discover, using the search function on site is always a good idea. For the time being, check the stickies at the top of the page.
