98 on T-56 to 1st gen block?

i am looking to put a t-56 behind my 89 tpi motor and the transmission i can get cheap is from a 98 or 99 camaro. the sticky describing the t-56 swap covered what to do with a 93 to 97 t-56 but only references the newer models to say that there are issues with the input shaft length and clutch hydraulics that make it more difficult. since i have access to a free 98 t-56 i am wondering if the cost of overcoming the "issues" the later models had is worth more than the cost of finding and buying a 93 to 97 t-56. has anyone joined an LS series t-56 to a 86 to 92 350?
BTW. that was a great sticky on the lt series t-56 swap! if that is any indication i am going to learn a lot from you folks!
thanks in advance!

Re: 98 on T-56 to 1st gen block?

You need a T5 bellhousing and a adapter plate as well as a pilot bearing extended bushing.

But it can be done with all the extra money, making it cheaper to use the LT1 T56.

Not to mention the LS1 T56 hydraulics suck most of the time.

Re: 98 on T-56 to 1st gen block?

i keep hearing that the hydraulics suck on the ls version. can you elaborate a little about why? it seems from just looking at the setups that a master cylinder and and hydraulic throwout (LS) would have less possible issues that a master, save, fork, and throwout (LT) due to the fact that there are more parts and thus more places for something to go wrong. can you tell me what malfunctions happen in the LS setup?
thanks!

The LS1 slave wraps around the input shaft and has problems leaking or cracking.
Bleeding it also involves 2 persons and alot of blood/cussing.. If the slave breaks,
you have to remove the trans from the car to replace it.

I have the lt1 front plate/ input shaft/bellhousing and a flywheel I would be interested in trading for the ls1 equivelant parts.
