yea, scarry. good thing i was in a parking lot and NOT doing many RPM's i barely throttled and it sounded like my WHOLE rear end ripped out from underneath. i honestly thought my tranny exploded. but anyways, when i got under it from the lift i see why. and i have a question for this if anyone knows. my U Joint caps were missing and it ripped off one of the brackets, the other is long gone. of the 4 holes for bolts in the rear end yoke one is stripped out and has no threads, the ohter has a broken off bolt. no biggie, i get the old U Joint out, get a new one in and ready to bolt it back in after i get a new yoke. turns out NO shop around here even carries them non the less cant order em. so im hopin i can snatch one from a junk yard. my question is cant a yoke from a 10 bolt rear be the same on a 9 bolt? or do i specifically need to find a yoke from a 9 bolt?
this will take me like an hour to fix and it pisses me off i cant even get a yoke anywhere around here from a shop. if anyone can help me out id greatly appreciate it.
but i dont understand..when i did the rear end swap, everything bolted back up to the drive shaft and u joint..so do you think i can use the same yoke and just use different bolt brackets?

guess if i cant fine a 9 bolt yoke, im screwed.
I have a spare 9 bolt yoke if you need it. $35 shipped.

the driveshaft and u-joint will bolt to either a 10 or a 9 bolt, or a variety of other rears for that matter. The yoke on the axle is different, the pinion gear in the axle has a different diameter and spline count. You need a yoke for the 9 bolt.
i see what your talking about now...dang this sucks. i checked jegs and summit and nothing. since this dang 9 bolt is rare i had to go to a drive line speciality place out here and the guy said he would have to look for one, says he has one but needs my old yoke for the dimensions...which is still attached to my rear...
anyways, thanks guys, happy new year and hope ol '91 RS see's a good new year finally! lol
