Hey guys, I know its been beat to death, but Ive been researching and have a few questions. What all do I need to swap a t56 into my 84 T/A? It has a 2 piece rear main 383 in it. Build me a parts list please.
1.T56 transmission for 93-97 F-body
Please add everything I will need. I appreciate it.
And yes, the sticky is a great source of info. It's where I learned everything I needed to know about the swap. You can probably read it all in about an hour. Once you read the first few posts, you won't be able to stop reading.
I read into the sticky and after a full page, I decided to start my own thread.
Read the entire thing. It goes into small details about things like where to get the little retention clips for the pedals, where to drill the upper holes, bleeding the hydraulics..........It's worth it man, believe me.
I agree with robguitargod1. A lot of us that have done the swap put much time and effort posting, taking pics and doing everything we could to help others attempting this swap. 99% of your questions will be answered there. I'd say most of us won't take the time to answer questions that have been answered in detail in the T56 sticky. Read then ask informed questions of us.
Good luck with your swap. You won't regret the T56. Ir's a dream to drive. I just wish I'd done mine 10 years ago.

I'm literally doing the swap as we speak. Pedals are in, hydraulics are in, wiring almost done...............I wish is wasn't literally 3 degrees outside so I didn't have to spend most my time by the heater.
It's not that we don't want to answer, it's that 99% of the questions are covered in the sticky. Read the sticky and we will be more than happy to clarify things that you need help with. People answered my questions during my swap, and I'm sure more than just I will be glad to help you out with whatever you need. It's all about sharing information and helping others here. I can't even begin to count the times I've been helped by people on here.
Sorry to hear it's so cold guys. I was lucky, was 100 deg when I did my swap. Not fun, but better that 3 deg I guess. Keep the faith, it will be worth it believe me!!!
