T5 TRANSMISSION FOR V8 & V6 DIFFERENCES?
I am going to see a T5 this week and i was wondering how can i tell the diff between a T5 for a 8 and 6 cyl ?....i know the the T5 v6 trans has a 10 spline shaft and a v8 one has at least 27,,,ok ,,,but besides this,,,are there any other things to look out for?....and what is the diff between a non and a world class just looking at them?....thanks.

You can get a list of part numbers here:
http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Bo...T5-ID-Tags.htm
Print that out and take it with you. There should be a tag somewhere on the trans...
WC T5 is visually identifiable by looking at the front countershaft bearing retainer. If it is smooth it is NWC... if it has a "Dished" center, it is a WC trans.

Re: T5 TRANSMISSION FOR V8 & V6 DIFFERENCES?
Ford T5s use 10 splines, the GM V6 have 14, GM V8 have 26.
You can spot the WC vs non-WC by the front bearing cup, but if it's got a bellhousing on it, you usually can't see it. It's easier to just look at the reverse shift lever pivot bolt... It's the bolt on the drivers side of the transmission case near the top. It looks sorta like a drain plug but it's definitely NOT a drain plug. On the WC transmissions the bolt has a torx head, the NWC have a normal hex head. If the id tag is gone, don't give much for it. The tag is the only way to identify exactly what the transmission came out of. It'll be a stamped tin tag bolted under one of the tail housing bolts.

Re: T5 TRANSMISSION FOR V8 & V6 DIFFERENCES?
so what your saying a T5 from a 1994 camaro is for a v6 engine and not a v8?...The add says it's for a v8 ...doesn't mention anything about it being for a v6....didn't all manual transmisions on camaro firebirds from 93 and on have T56 transmissions?

I'd pay attention to the ID tag, and decode the number before buying any T5 to verify it's what it's supposed to be. Checking the gear ratios might not be a bad idea either.

Re: T5 TRANSMISSION FOR V8 & V6 DIFFERENCES?
well this guy selling it says it's good for a V8 ...but if it cam off a V6 car then he should say so ,,,i will stay away from that one...i would of counted the splines and make sure it was for a V8 .....thanks.
