2001 t56 from corvette

So before i start, i know we're not really a 4th gen site, but since theres a lot of ls1 swaps here i figured it might be a good place to ask. a friend of mine has a 99 camaro ss ls1/t56. his trans is done, it grinds like it is its job. he found a t56 out of a 2001 corvette. it should bolt up to the block no issue if im not mistaken? the only issue is the trans axle of the corvette. has anyone done this or know about it? the trans from the vette has 21,000 on it and hes getting a really good deal. lemme know what you think

Re: 2001 t56 from corvette

The transaxle T56 won't bolt up to any block, and it has no tail housing on it. The only way to use it would be to convert the internals of it into the Fbody T56 at great technical difficulty and costs.. (standard disclaimer)

If you or your friend have any technical skill and some extra $ though, the conversion makes a great upgraded trans that shifts smooth and can handle the power..

I've built over 2 dozen of these.
