700R4 Query

Hi, I have an issue with my auto box. Reverse is not selecting. Well I say that but it makes a whining noise and sounds like a solenoid works or something but i get no movement. Could this be a selector issue or is it likely I need a rebuild? Any help will be most welcome! Alena

Re: 700R4 Query

are any other gears having issues. if you put it in drive does it still go forward. does it go back into park after being in drive since this issue started. if not it is likely a shift cable issue.

Re: 700R4 Query

Thank you, I can get forward movement in all gears, there seems to be stiff movement getting it back into park. There is also seems like there is more than one neutral (between Park and Neutral)
I have bought a service kit and will check the pan for bits of metal, the oil is rather black too.
I am going to have a look at the cable and mechanism over the weekend and see what I can find!
