Re: shift cable after swap
Rock Auto shows the same shift cable for both V6 and V8.
Are you sure you talking about the manual shift cable and not the TV cable that attaches to the throttle?

Re: shift cable after swap
got it in the console I had to use a pair of grip pliers and seat it into the bracket and then shift the tranny and the handle both into 1st then connect the tw0 and voila.
now, is there anyone who has measured there tv cable and know the distance between the mounting bracket and the throttle lever on an lo3 engine? that will give me a good starting point as to how far to mount the bracket from the throttle. thx am I even measuring right? or should I be going from carb to mounting plate(bracket plate) right now I can go to WOT in the 2nd pic and not pull out the slider I kno that is not correct so I kno that I have to move the bracket further back I just don't know how far. the small crook you see is just that only a little small crook it in no way interferes with operation. yu can see from where I measured tht the cable goes from 5in-6.25 in the 1st pic the cable has no slack but no pulling tension either and the slider is all the way in; in both pics.
in the 1st pic (idle) if I pull on or move the cable any further than where you see it I can feel while pulling it and hear something clicking at the tranny like a valve is opening. that's why I did not lengthen the cable any further for idle I did not know if that click was supposed to be happening at idle. if pulling by hand there is a 2nd detense that is clearly felt but the cable has to be pulled almost to where you see it in the second pic.
