700r4 leaking

Hi, so my 700r4 from my 87 GTA is leaking....first leaking is from the vss...i guess ill need to change the o-ring, i was looking on internet but didnt found one with the mention vss 700r4 for 87...i found some for the cable one but i was not sure if it is the same dimension as the vss, did some one could help me found one!...and should i be able to pop the vss housing and change the o-ring without removing anything or should i have to remove like the driveshaft etc to get some ''loose''...second leaking is from the oil cooling fitting ....there is like no room to get a key there and tight it a little , did some one have a trick on that? or should i just drop it and tight it...
Thanks for your help!!!!

Re: 700r4 leaking

you can fix that o ring on the speedo adapter just like it sits,no need to remove anything.(except for the adapter itself, of course) now for the other, you need a crows foot line wrench. the kind that fits on a extension. and you will be good to go.

Re: 700r4 leaking

The GM dealer should still be able to order the correct o-ring.

Try a local transmission repair shop. Sometimes they'll sell you something like that.

I believe you need 15552872. List for this is 2.89 for a 5 pack. What the dealer is likely doing is either trying to charge you "matrix" pricing or trying to charge you 2.89 X 5 pieces even though they're only going to give you one seal. Some dealers really suck, but if you walk in and say that you know list for this is 2.89 for a 5 pack and that you're not paying more than List Price, sometimes you can force them to sell to you for list cost. You can also Google this part number and find it on places like Rock Auto if you're willing to wait and pay for shipping too.

well, oreilleys carries oil proof o rings in various sizes. you could go there and match it up for a quarter.
