TCC Switch Problem

Hi all; hopefully I don't ramble on too much...got a bit of an issue I'm trying to diagnose myself before I take it back to the shop (pain in the ***).

Just had my 700R4 rebuilt...mild build with a shift kit put in. Late last night 5 minutes from home I blew the gauges fuse. Been screwing around with it all day; and so far the only way to get it to stop blowing said fuse is by pulling the plug out of the brake switch that has the pink/black and purple wires; which I understand is tied to the TCC Switch / Solenoid? I assume the brake switch itself is GOOD because my brake lights work when applied.

Don't have the ability to get under the car due to limited space...but am I going in the right direction by assuming it's something with the transmission and the lockup wiring?

Re: TCC Switch Problem

There are several things on the same fuse/circuit, outlined in the owners manual. Yes, wiring for the TCC shorted can pop the fuse. Look for melted-on exhaust or pinched wiring.

Re: TCC Switch Problem

I did a quick look under the car and I can't even see any wiring going to the trans. The only thing I see is an empty plug on the drivers side of the trans above the pan. After disconnecting the "pink/black" & purple plug attached to the brake switch near the pedel; no more popping fuses which is what leads me to believe it's related to the trans and not one of the other items on that same fuse. Just not sure where/how that particular wire is routed to look for melted/burnt/corroded wires.

Looks like it's going back to the shop that did the install. Another stupid question...when looking from below...should you be able to see the torque converter in between the bell housing and I guess the engine...? While I was under there I saw a gap maybe 1/2 inch where I could see my shiny new T/C. I'm very green to the transmissions so be gentle if that's the norm.

Re: TCC Switch Problem

Yeah it doesn't seems to be plugged in. It might drop down from the large wiring bundle behind the drivers head.
