Ford 9" pinion angle question inside.

I picked up a 9" yesterday, and actually I have 2 questions, what should the width be from inside the brake plates and the pinion is a bit off center. Will that make much difference? Will I be going through U-Joints? It came out of a 1975 F-100. Thanks.

Keep your up and down angle at zero or 1 degree down. The F100 9" pinion is offset 2" to the passenger side compared to the third gen diff. With the 45"+ driveshaft length this makes between 2-3 degrees offset angle. (trigonometry) It should be small enough that it won't eat u-joints. Check clearance between the driveshaft and the floor.

How are you planning on mounting the torque arm?

I was planning on welding some steel tubes (one on top and bottom) then fabricate something for the torque arm to bolt/weld to. I have a torch and welder so I'll be able to come up with something. How did you do that 4 link setup? I was thinking of maybe doing that to. But I just put a powertrax lockright and the heavy aluminum Summit diff cover on my 10 bolt. But when that gives way, it'll be 9" time.
