Anyone know what parts of the governor does what?

I've messed around with my 700R4 governor a lot today, had it out at least 15 times.
Seems like a lighter outer weight causes a later 1-2 shift.
A lighter inner weight causes a later wot shift AND later shift into OD.
Stronger springs seem to make 2-3 shifts earlier, weaker ones make shifts later. two strong springs make the 2-3 shifts real close and one strong spring one weak spring makes the 2-3 shift further apart.
Is any of this true?
How do those shops with transmission dynos perfect the shifts in their transmissions?

I finally got my shift points here- 1-2 at 1900 rpm's; 2-3 at 2300 rpm's; 3-4 at 55 mph.
Trying to get 1-2 to shift later but got tired of messing with it (and ran out of daylight).
