Yes to all three questions. Lighter weights make wot shift points higher and has a little effect on part throttle shifts too.
Springs effect part throttle shifts, stronger = earlier part throttle shifts; lighter = later part throttle shifts.

Thanks.

Reason Being. My Trans in the Z, still has the STock govenor from the 86 LG4, yielding 4500rpm shifts, a far cry from what i need, shifts around 5800-6000.. my next question is... Can i lighten the wieghts sufficiently to give me that shiftpoint, or not.

the question folliwing that how much are the govenor kits, and are they readily available if I screw up

The kits are available from most catalogs-PAW, Summit etc. for about $25.00
You'll need the kit! There are 6 diff. wgts and 6 diff. springs in the kit from B&M. The combo's are endless..... I just spent three days+ getting mine pretty much dialed where I want it! So allow some time..... You'll find with some combo's it'll shift 1/2 lower than 2/3 and then others will give you higher rpm 1/2 shifts, and the "right " combo will put them real close.
If anyone is really going to do this feel free to e-mail me for the gory details-after the first day when I realized it wasn't going to be that easy I started taking notes.....
