changing the flexplate
How hard is it to change the flexplate on a 700r4? would i have to pull the tranny all the way out, or could i just slide it back a tad? how long would this take? thanks--Dustin

Flexplate change
Gizz,
I think it is easier to pull tranny almost completely out. The issue will be how hard the bolts are torqued. You will need a way to prevent the crank from turning as you remove the flexplate bolts. Red thread lock is essential.

A good long 11/16 wrench for the crank bolts, and a flexplate tool(get it at your local Checker Auto) to hold the flex from turning.
You'll still need to remove the driveshaft, crossmember, and oil lines on either the radiator or trans.
I actualy used very long 3/8 bolts (put in place of the lower mounting bolts) to guide the trannie back, without losing alignment. I also used a trannie jack !!!
Set aside 2 to 4 hours with a good lower back, or 8 hours for a back like mine.
