Probuilt, anyone know info on standard 3 speeds?

A recent thread has gotten me re-energized about transmissions.
I'm in the proces of re tweaking my truck, mostly for power, I have avilable a 3 speed from a 69 camaro with the hurst shifter. This was behind an inline 6 engine. Question 1, Not knowing what the rear gear ratio was should this be a wide ratio since it came from a 6 banger????
Ive done a bit of poking around and cant find much info on three speeds. I have a 76 truck and it has a HD muncie 3 speed with factory 3.73's and this should be a close ratio right? What Ive read 3.50+ rear ratios have close ratio tranmissions and lower have wide ratio's. Is this true??? The reason I cant really tell if the truck has a close ratio is because of the 3.73's and how often do people get to drive manual 3 speeds now days anyway?
Any help would be great!!!!
