last question I swear, curious about tailpipe size

This is my last exhaust question I swear...well hopefully my last.

Since I'm going from 2.25 pipe to 2.5, and my tailpipes are something like 2.0, would it actually be best to go 2.5 on the tailpipes or just 2.25. I'd still be getting an overall .25 increase.

I just keep wondering about getting too much exhaust flow and loosing power (and then sounding more like a ***** in the process) Probably wouldn't make a difference anyway would it? I think too much.

Also anybody recommend any exhaust tips for controlling sound for whatever size tailpipe I should get.

Well, many of us with aftermarket cat-backs have 2.5 pipes... but you shouldn't be losing any power, as long as it's after the muffler. If you ran a 3 inch intermediate pipe, that would be a problem, but I think you could even have 3" tailpipes without any performance problems. I think as long as you get an exhaust tip without a built in resonator, the note won't be rice-y.

I put a set of glass packed tips on mine with a flowmaster. It has a real nice throaty sound to it. Especially for a 2.8.

I found a Volvo Intermediate pipe with a smooth "Y" connection to try my Fireird hi flow "Y" pipe set up.
Go to 2 1/2" all the way.
You won't loose at all.
You back pipes will be (AT END AFTER MUFFLER) smaller, but you can add a larger tip for apperance.
*****
Oh well, depends.
I figure in Germany, you hear more WOOSH (turbo porsches)!
How do the Opels sound?
Have you seen any Bitters lately?
ON MY S-10 BLazer carb.
I have factory "Y" pipe to 2 1/2" in & out CC, 2 1/2" intermediate, to a flowmaster, 2 1/2" in & 2, 2" out.
MY ENGINE SINGS when I had it running!
I was FINALLY able to reach 90MPH!
With engine showing 125,000 & new timing chain.
As an FYI,
My 1974 Corvette, 2 1/2" pipes front to rear.
It works fine.
GO BIGGER, you be ok.

Passed the inspection, that was a heck of a weld job. Good thing I got a friend that's good at it. It's not easy welding rust.

Just trying to get the pipe hanger and I should be all set once the I-pipe gets here. Someday I'll get around the the y-pipe too.

The Opels sound decent, don't know how do describe one exactly, but saw a Lotus today. Sounded mean.

Those Turbo Charged 4 Cylinders that make over 200 HP DO LOOK SHARP!!!
Opels always went for torque from their 4 cylinders. 6, too (like BMW)
So they should sound deep throaty.

Ok since we are on the subject of exhaust i have a problem too, I purchased a dynmax muffler which is 2.5 in and out (does that mean the tailpipes diameter and the pipe from the muffer to cat are the same size diameter?), and i pruchased the two tail pipes from trak auto which are oem replacements but they are both 2", and the pipe from the muffler to converter also purchased from trak is 2.25" that goes in the muffler and i think 3" that does to the cat. Now how the hell do i make this fit with all different pipe sizes ?

Return all the stuff that doesn't fit, go to a muffler shop.
Drive away exhaust leak, rattle free.
