the set I have now needs flanges(20-30 minutes max) put on and the EGR mounting fabbed up(again 15-20 minutes). After that I will paint them and they will be ready to ship when the paint has dried. I would say roughly 12 hours. Basically let them sit overnight and they will go out with UPS at 5Pm the next day. Thats when UPS starts moving stuff. The S&H time is what ever you pay for. ground 3-5 days, and it just gets shorter, as the $$ goes up.
Install. let the engine get cold. Spray with PB Blaster. And over the course of 15-25 minutes spray again every 5.
remove the EGR, and move it outta the way.
then just start removing manifold bolts pretty much. Theres not alot to it. Theres an Alt braket that needs removed... but I would say a good mech can get them off I 30-45 minutes once the bolts are sprayed down good. (It took me 45 minutes to take off my 305 headers as a time referance)
As far as install instructions.. put back everything you just took off. though really the only 2 things would be the EGR and Alternator Brace. Besides the Headers of course. Just have a shop lined up to make the Y pipe, if our mech does not do it. A cop will typically let you get away with driving to a shop to have the "severe exhaust leak" fixed, so right after install either have him making a Y pipe, or be REAL quick to get another shop to do it. I have been told 50-70 is a good price for a Y pipe.

Well I will hope to order some of the newer collectors tomarrow. It just depends on my weaning bank account. I have 1 set(Pinquins) that will be sold as the new collectors are arriving at my door I am sure(and hopefully others as well...'CLOCK?). Once the payment for those come in, then its a cascade effect allowing me a good source to get more and more things that I need.
But to answer your question, IF I get these ordered tomarrow, they are coming from texas, about 900 miles, so Ground will be 2-3 days for them to get here. After that I have to cut the old collectors off the tubes I already have made and make flanges/EGR plate(an evening at most) and then weld it all back togeather again. SO after I get the new collectors, 1/2 day to making everything, then I will wire brush them before painting that let the paint dry overnight, and can send them the next day. so 3-4 days.
And I am hoping to get a job at a dealer(CHEVY BABY) SO I will have a good paying semi full time job. I was told about the opening today.. Hopefully I will get it. Hell if they ask me my hobbies, I know I will get it! Gotta have repect for a man that makes what is not made!

I called to order those "new" collectors, and the lady says, "no they are more then that. I explained to her that I got the price off her website and she continues to say "oh THAT'S Level 1 Pricing, your not ordering enough for Level 1 pricing, your only ordering enough to get level 3(the most expensive)" I tell her that she really needs to explain this on the site, and before I hang up the phone(after a long arguement about this shady pratice) I basically tell her to suck my ***.
They wanted to tack on another $10 PER COLLECTOR basically. I told he that I am in this to MAKE, not LOSE Money.
Hense my "discresion" on the subject.
I told her that if she wanted to sell the collectors at a realistic price to email me, otherwise(follow above said statement). I could go back to the older collectors... but then its a waiting game again....
I could TRY to make them, but no garantees.
I am eading off line for a while to make some calls. I will try to come up with something... Otherwise I just wasted 1500!.

Actually 3X1 5/8 to 2 or 2 1/2(I think that 2" would create better power personally.)

The 2" would probably create better backpressure than the 2 1/2" then the y-pipe could go 2" to 2 1/2" to a 2 1/2' in & out cat to 2 1/2" catback. Sounds like everything would be married.

well the tubes are 1 1/4 ID(1 3/8 OD) 1/16" thick. and I think that the 2" exit will keep a good vacuum from the 1 1/4 to suck in the next pulse, and the 2 1/2 would create a BIG "dead zone" of flow. Thats why I like the smaller size.
2" from each collector to a 2" Y pipe, then when the 2 tubes merge, go 2 1/2 to the 2 1/2 system as you described.
Put it this way... I am looking far and wide for these damn collectors...
I just emailed 2 companies in NEW ZEALAND AND 1 IN AUSTRAILIA!, along with 2-3 more in the US...
Again guys I have a set like I sent dead sitting in my garage... You can simply take the larger tube(if you want) and run it over the collector(1 7/8), scribe a line, cut it then weld on the larger tube for the collector exit if you want. I have no clue now how long it is gonna take to get collectors....

Stumbled into a good paying job and wont have to wait anymore. e-mail me at my91rs@prodigy.com or personal msg me on here and give me the details on how to get the money to you? I got alot of V6er's in my club that dont believe me bout the gain and alot that want the headers also. Can you make headers for any V6? Or just the 2.8 & 3.1? Thats for the people in my club. I m the only 3.1 in my club.Anyways let me know the details on the headers bro.....

Well I am glad I am not the only person that understands why big tube creates probs!...
Don't worry RX I won't forget about ya... When I get the $$$ I will get the 2"er(I need it anyway for the y pipe) Who makes that pipe anyway? I might want to get one so I know exactly what I need to get done to make it ft right.
My quote was 2" would probably create BETTER backpressure than 2 1/2". Better does not mean more. All exhaust systems have some measure of backpressure unless you are running wide open Krackers like on top-fuel cars.
To clarify this, Next time I'll use the word Flow instead of backpressure. Sorry for the confussion.

I have 1(ONE) set in my garage that I can have ready in less then a day. If anyone wants them, let me know NOW, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.
HOWEVER, I can probly have the newer collectors within 5 days(I already called and they have 6(3 PAIRS worth) Sitting on the shelf, so If someone wants to have a newer collector set reserved, you can send the $$$ and as soon as I get the order $$$ I will order the collectors. I will order the 6 right away, and tell them to send an additional amount that I can afford as well in a seperate shipment.

Good news for you guys though, that gets me money to buy many many sets of the newer collectors. (MY91RS) I will send you out a set with the new collectors too, after I get some made up. Just to show appriciation. I'm sure the other guys on the board would love to buy you a round at the bar too!.. LOL.
I will oder the 3 pairs they have now. That leaves 1(ONE) to be sold. Reasoning, 1 to go to CALI, 1 to My91RS(FreeOfCharge) Hopefully by the time that the last one is done I will be getting the second installment of the 1st order of collectors. I will try to order as many as I can. I will probly start at 12-14 at first. So that 6-7 pairs total. If some of you guys want to jump ahead of the game order a set in reserve. That will only allow me to get more at once.
PS I am looking at getting a milling machine(could you imagine the twisted things my mind can do with that?!... I am already thinking first project Eaton M50 from a T-Bird 3.8.... Like the saying goes.. Ahh the possibilities...

well now that it looks like this is finally gonna break.. it will not take long. I will go through my distrib and try to get some good headers/intakes what ever and try coping them. Hell they don't have a patent right?.. LOL
With the sets I am looking to sell in the next month first is a new better bender. But then again the one I REALLY WANT is a cool $12.4K OUCH though I have also spotted a nice 3500 buck unit... Depending on sales, I might get that mill first, then dig DEEP into R&D.

Ok good news.
1st, I found another supplier for collectors. I am waiting to hear back from them on the pricing I can get.
2nd, these new collectors com out to the 2 1/2 exit diam.
I have seen a pic of them and they lokk 2K percent better then the POS things I was using.
3rd, it's a company that is closer, so hopefully the S&H lag time will be cut down.
Oh and 4th, that drill bit came on so I can pick it up this coming week and get started on the EGR stuff.
So hopefully in 2 weeks I will have a kick a$$ set to send to CARB for testing.

I got your flanges cut today. They are ready to go on. I am still working on getting the EGR tab perfect.
I spent about 3 hours in a freinds hot *** garage in 95 deg, 95% humidity sand blasting those damn hedmans... NOT FUN. But I must say they look better now they are painted without the rust bubbles.
I will probly go into town tomarrow to get the actual EGR tube material. Not looking forward to all the "safety check points" hosted by the state cops... Damn holidays.... Anyway they(the headers) will probly be done tomarrow. I will get a box too while I am in town and pack them up too. That way as soon as I get payment, they can go the same day.
Tring to think of anything else... nothing really comes to mind.
Just reiterating to the guys in non EPA NAZI locations... If you wanna reserve a set nows the time to do it. Once these things get going I can probly only do 5-6 sets a week (if I'm lucky). I will probly only take 4-6 orders per week and ship them all at the same time, so if there is a long line... just remember the Christmas eve lines.... Cause once I get a mill, lag time WILL increase. I will be putting alot more into R&D for all kinds of things once I get a steady income flow.

Anyway I am looking at a sweet *** CNC bender in maybe 5-6 months hopefully. With that thing I can simply save a design for a cars headers on a disk and just plug in the disk and hit start. And yes I will also be looking at doing some 4 banger import stuff, and other cars that have been ignored. I am hoping to get the rep for doing the headers/parts for the "Ugly Duckling" cars.
I have also already been approached by 3 other groups to make headers for Fiero's and RX7's, and 4th gen 3.4's(and probly expecting more to come when things really get rolling.

Camaro hunter i am getting a new job that pays 8.50 and hour to hook up computers, i am gonna start saving my money for a pair gl with the epa stuff i am crosing my fingers...

As far as when I get a good bender(right around 3900-or 22 sets) I am gonna make headers like the LS1 vette's where the tubes will come up to get equal length NOT DOWN, DOWN causes probs.. LOTS of probs TRUST ME. but anyway.
I decided instead of sending one of these out to CALI I am gonna sell it, so I will have 2(TWO) SETS for sale not just 1. Sorry to the guys in cali, but I need the $$$ now. I am a month behind on car payments.(only 2 months left thank g0d) And it will allow me to get further ahead on parts and the $$$ for the bender. When the second shipment from the first order arrives, I will then send a set to CARB.

Yeah I just need top do a little welding and then there ready. as I said.. the headers you guys are getting are ALOT easier to put in. you have alot less fighting to do. the bolts are 8mX1.25 thread. I got 30 MM long, a can of PB Blaster and alot of patience with the bolts.
Yeah I have gotten like 3-5 Emails asking about headers for the 3.8... I CAN'T DO THEM YET. I want this other bender and CNC mill first. I also want a engine/trans on a stand to work on as well.
CHC you must really have some mad patience and skills I must say! I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of these headers! I'm not sure if you own a digital camera or not, but if you don't, feel free to use a normal camera, take the pictures, and then if you mailed them to me, I would gladly scan them. Lemmie know. No offence to you or your work, but I'm all about seeing pictures before slapping down the cash. But I do have the money set aside for these... So lemmie know.
Pic's here ya go. the one that has the EGR Flange on it, I already know the flange is upside down, I was in a hurry and did not think. I just need to redrill some holes(after all its on my set anyway)
I do not know if you can see on the pic or not, but it has plenty of room for the oil pressure sending unit(plugged in in pic), the oil filter(not on but trust me theres room) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE MANUAL SLAVE CYLINDER.

the last one is a pic I already had on the disk and just plain forgot about...
I must say after getting the old drivers side hedman off, the replacement went on in under 5 minutes. So to those that think these are a pain to install.. YEAH right.. NOT, they are a breeze. The hardest thing about installing these is getting the old stuff off/out.
These pics are also of the last set that had the old style collectors on them. And I have decided(and with support of the board) to just raise the price to $175(because of increased collector cost).
Heres a run down of what is needed for install...
1 can of PB Blaster(or eqivilent) 2.99 or so.
12 M8X1.25X30MM thread Stainless steel bolts(Lowes had them 2.47 Per 5 pack)
An Exhaust Manifold gasket set($7 and change at Auto Zone)
As a side note I already have been informed by one person that is reserving a set on the first batch, that only leaves one more avail.
Also when I get the 22-23 sold that will fund the new bender, those that have bought this type will get the then be able to get the redesigned equal length type with a discount(to be determined later) but I am thinking around $70-80 off. Again so it can be said that I am taking real good care of you guys. You all have helped alot in getting this stuff on its way and have had probly less patience then me with this project.
