they exist, they provide boost, but from my experience they don't produce enough boost to create any major horsepower increases You'd be better off making your own SC from half a turbo, and driving it by the engine, would be much better than any other way of doing it.
I was thinking about that very idea the other day when I was looking at my cooling fan on my processor. Why can't someone make it work, it would be soooo much easier than trying to plumb a turbo or sc I'd think.

Hmmm that's right, and a large enough alt to supply that power would probably have more of a negative effect than it would be worth, be very ineffectient too.

they are going for 30 bucks + on ebay. just gotta look but some of the same ones that go for 150+ to start and people are buying, you can get for uder 50. I saw a bunch of them. I was thinking about it too.
I was just looking at some tonight then IE crashed. said like 240cfm up to 60 hp
"Electric Supercharger gets its power from the vacuum inside the throttle body as well as the 12 V power supply from your car battery! Spinning at 230 CFM at 10,000 RPM. The supercharger will ram air into the throttle body at over 300 times the normal amount and significantly boost horsepower and torque."
they all say it different but its the same fan.
but how fast does a 2.8 suck air???
edelbrock sells 2000cfm air cleaners for big v8s, how much does a 6 suck?
I would be real iffy of buying that . Most of the superchargers I see only make about 50 extra hp . Of course thats a nice little increase . But for paying only $100 or a cheaper price on ebay and thinking you will get 50 extra hp . Well it doesnt cost alot , but is it worth the time and labor you will put into it ?
Just my oppinion .

i gave these guys an email and asked them what the real numbers on them where. we are talking a grand total of 5-6% horsepower increase...that's a whole lot of nothing for the money your going to pay. figure if my car makes 180 horspower, then i can expect about a 10horspower increase when i turn it on, no thanks, think i will go and get some real work done to my engine.
What's funny is, those don't even look like the original electric superchargers I've seen! That looks like some home-made cooling-fan-in-a-tube, and would probably be worse than the original ones. One such original is at http://www.turbozet.com (if you have IE6.0 like I do, just "cancel" the Korean text download if the box pops up.)

that was EXACTLY my point , in my above post . It's kinda like , getting a supercharger out of a cereal box . :sillylol:

No, but back on my old club, v6fbody.com, a guy named Sergio with a 3.8 4th gen Camaro tried one out. (Or did he have a 3.4? Can't remember.) He didn't notice much of a performance boost, and was ticked, because he was working with the company to try to help them develop the product. This is going back to '97 or '98, and it was one of the first web-advertised electric power-adders out there, so he was hoping it would be a good thing. They wanted $300 (U.S. currency) for it, and it turned out to be not so good. So it's funny how ebay only wants $40-$70 for one.

Good cause I saw something like this in an add for a carbed engine. I think its a waste of time and money personally.

The problem is they are using DC fans, AC fans have the power and push you need.
But to get a real power invertor that works will cost more than a real good DC turbo charger.
There is a way to make your own out of a microwave power supply but I have no idea how.
I got some AC fans to cool my computer that would work great, they flow well over 2000 cfm. I know cause for a while too look cool I had a 2000 cfm edelbrock air cleaner on it for show, but even it bouged down the fan.
i just might buy one..........because i need to buy something to fill in the void that not having a MAF sensor creates
i honestly doubt it gives ANY gains
but just imagine the look on a *****-boy's face when you tell them that your engine is supercharged
that might be worth the $50 alone
i dont really see how it would work considering its so flimsy
that and the fact that the amperage draw is gonna cause more belt-drag from your altenator
just for the kicks of it, i think i'll be the guinea pig and buy one.................................

Sweet dude, Id get one to try but im taped out right now.
It should do something, if nothing act like that tornado thingy, maybe raise your mpg.
I still like TomP's idea of a LEAF BLOWER - Only thing is you'd have to get out an' open th' hood and crank it up before you race.
Personaly I'm work'n on mounting 12 or 14 of those little Smog pumps on the front of my engine an' funneling all their little hoses into the intake.
Come on guys, if it was easy everybody would be doin' it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
WOULD YOU BELEAVE?
I bought an attachment that goes on my fuel pump that gives me 20% better fuel milage.
I bought a kit that hooks to the injectors that increases the fuel milage by 39%.
And I bought some Power Pellets that I put in the fuel tank that give me a 60% fuel milage increase.
NOW I HAVE TO STOP EVERY 70 or 80 MILES AND DUMP GAS OUT OF THE GAS TANK!!!!

exactly
i'm not going to get it for the performance aspect
i need it to fill a void
and to fu(k around with some people i dont like and tell them my car is supercharged

Uh, excuse me, GhostRider84, I NEVER, EVER, suggested a leaf blower idea. I defy you to find such a message.
I REFUSE to be associated with such a stupid idea.

would be easier & cheaper to hook up a leaf blower

I just got some straws from McDonalds , Im going to connect them together and hook one end up to my throttle body and have the other end in my mouth , when I accelerate , I will blow into the end in my mouth . :sillylol:

has aneone considered the amount of HP one of these things draws??? (V8 owner, forgive me for being here) I was browsing through an SAE mag not too long ago and they had an article on one of the super charged V6 benz's. The scroll type super charger takes over 60 peak HP to operate! Obviously no electric motor could develop anywhere near that kind of power to compress all the air. These electric ones are the biggest load of bs to come down the pike yet imho.

Why you sellin? does it suck? DC fans just cant create the boost. Need AC fans.
but a leaf blower might work well. punch a hole in the pass. floor board and install the leaf blower inside the car.
run a y pipe into your air hose. then when you need boost, you just fire up the leaf blower and lock the triger.
Ive been thinking about this electric supercharger but not in the sence "supercharger" but as a puller for a cold air induction system. It might make pulling cold air a bit easyer but I still doubt any boost over the amount of the engines own vacuum. For people who dont know a real supercharger pushes xx amount more air then the engine pulls by vacuum.

they could be used just to draw cold air into the air box or one of these might be modable"http://64.35.118.38/Merchant3/graphics/00000001/413904.gif"
take off the funky ele. motor and adapt it to a pully uner the hood. right design for a blower, they ony difference is the size of the ele. motor it comes with.
