I'm kinda nervous.....

Yep, that's right.....I'm dropping (er, raising?) the T5 in my car tomorrow. I'm a lil nervous.

I planned for this Friday over 2 weeks ago but just 2 days ago I realized it was Friday the 13th. Ah well, superstition, shmooperstition. Wish me luck....I'm gonna need it.

LOL, yeah, "dropping" a trans usually isn't a good thing! Good luck with the swap, get one of those $10 throw-away cameras and take some pictures!!!! I'd love to see pics of the un-obvious stuff, like mounting the clutch pedal and hydraulic system. You gotta drill holes for that stuff, or do holes already exist in the firewall?

Hey Tom, I did take some pictures. Basically just the trans in the car and the shifter hole. I was too busy to remember to take pics of all the other stuff. BTW, you do have to cut the holes in the firewall. The carpet has a perfect template cut into it though. I'll try to get the pics posted although I have a hard time getting them to work.

ANYWAY, The T5 is in!!!!! It's fun to drive although the 4:1 1st gear is a bit low.

I've still got 2 problems though. First, my reverse lights won't stay on. They flash, then shut off. Second, on the way home I developed a pretty loud rattle at around 2000 rpms. It does it in every gear, and in neutral with the clutch in or out. The fact that it does it neutral makes me think the trans is OK. It might just be the exhaust bracket because it's only being held on with 1 bolt right now. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow.

Karl, I still have your parts!!!!!!!!

I fixed the rattle at least. The dust shield had been previously cut and was vibrating against something. Still gotta fix those reverse lights though........

I usually don't wind my motor up past around 3500 rpm but I did hit 4000 earlier today. I'd say I was around 22-25 mph.....however my gauge reads 1-2 mph fast now because the speedo gears aren't exact.

I got lucky yesterday and ran into one of those "This is your speed" trailers. The trailer indicated 28mph while my speedo indicated 30mph....I can live with that.

come on , why have a T5 and not do 6000rpm shifts hehehehehe

course in mine I peak out about 5000 in first [seat of your pants peak when I dont feel it pullin anymore] and 5500 in second but after that it will pull hard all the way up to 6000 and beyond.

My car did this after a mechanic swapped my 700R4 for another one. I think its just a loose connection somewhere, but I never got around to doing anything about it.
