Data-logging the 6

Wondering if anyone has done this? I have the software and ALDL cble to hook to the laptop, but we've been using it with the MAF 350 TPI. Could the same cable and software be used with my ECM? Thanx

The same 8292 BAUD cable can be used on both systems.
BUT THE SYSTEMS HAVE TO BE THE SAME.
There are 2. The higher rate for the 90-92 IS DIFFERENT then 89-down. HOWEVER if you built the interface as you should have, the circuit itself WILL SUPPORT both data stream types. I even went as far as to install a fast switching diode that lights an LED when the circuit is working(transferring data). Trick huh?

and spending only like 9 bucks and an old laptop you can use cracked software to burn new chip programs....

What's type of ECM?

Do we share one with the V8 cars? I know there are two types (MAP and MAF). Do they correspond with OUR ECM? Do we use the same type of EPROM?

Long time since I did this so...

the 7730 computers were in both V6/V8. they are the 8292? BAUD computer. They had the same chip, different BIN. They use the same cable, the same software to read.

The '749? (MAF) was the same computer in both the V6/V8. Same chip, different BIN. Again same cable, same software to read.

The plans I have seen for the RS232 interface can be made to work with BOTH ECU data streams in both computers. Meaning the propperly built 7730 (MAP) cable will ALSO read the 749? (MAF) data stream.
When you go to the upload of the data stream to verify BIN(s) program for burning, you need to make sure that you select the correct type of engine. I used to have the things written down, I will probly need to reinstall tunercat to verify which bin type is which engine. the DIY prom guys will be able to tell you which is which.

the V6/V8 MAF did not use the 749 (we can only wish.. this is the syclone/typhoon ECU, and is MAP).. the V8 MAF = 1227165, 8192 baud. V6 MAF = 1227302, 160 baud (to my knowledge).. a simple single-transistor interface and WinALDL is all you need to datalog the V6

What about the dual cable?

I just got through building The board for a transfer cable with 2 transistors. it's for the 730 ECM (works with the Maf ones too). I got the schematic off of here (forgot which post). Two tansistors, a diode, a few 10K resistros....Will "that" one work?

Yes, the two-transistor interface should work on both. Everything I've heard/seen/read says it works on both. Mine isn't quite finished, yet, so I can't say from experience, but the schematics are so indifferent, for unidirectional communications, they shouldn't work any differently.
