the 3.8 is a 90 degree engine, the 3.4 is a 60 degree, so the bellhousings are definitely different, probably the same as the 4.3 or the v8s. it is likely that the 3.8 has the same input shaft as the other 90 deg engines, you would probably have to get an adapter clutch and a diff flywheel as well.
speculation however. all i can guarantee is that the bellhousings are different.
If you use a 3.8 from a front wheel drive, It uses the metric bolt pattern of the 2.8 and 3.1. If you use a rear wheel drive 3.8 block from the 80's, It will use the b-o-p pattern. McLeod sells a bellhousing that bolts to both che*y and B-O-P engines and has the tilted bolt pattern for the t-5 in the 3rd gen. You must buy a Buick even fire v-6 flywheel but it is drilled for the same bolt pattern as v-8 clutches. Also check the back of the crank. Some 3.8's were not machined for a pilot bearing.

Nate, doesn't the 3800 you put into your car have the metric bolt pattern? I had a 3800 out of a Firebird and I swear it had the metric bolt pattern. Sorry, if I'm wrong. I just want to clarify because of a 'future' project.
