V6 Prom scenario's

I just got going on doing my V6 Prom, but wanted to know what other people have done. Right now I'm running a slightly modded v6 prom in a 92 730 ecm. I have a V8 program (?) on another chip that works as well, but not well enough. I'm just looking for some general info to get me going.

yup. Its been changed to 6 cylinder and injectors sizing have been changed. It runs okay but the idle richness needs tweeking. With a little more it would work just fine.

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

Does anyone know where I can find the V6 bin and mask files? I can't seem to find them.

I replied on your thread in the diy_prom board too... but, now I see what combo you're runing. I've got the files you need... AZTY bin and $88.xdf I'm rather surprised that it runs on the v8 bin, honestly. Maybe we can help eachother get these things figured out...I've had a hard time with some aspects of tuning this ecm.

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

k, i'll ditch the DIYPROM post and just work over here. Not much love for the V6's over there....

AZTY with the $88.xdf. K. I didn't bring the laptop to work today, so I'll get to it when I get home. Is that hack well documented? The main reason we went to the V8 code is because it was and I was hitting a limit we thought was a rev limit (turned out to be valve float). The V8 code has a better SA map for over 5600rpm.

What ECM are you running? The 730 as well?

yep, 730. i don't feel that the info on any of the v6 hacks is too well documented. Everyone that I have talked to has said that the azty bin is the preferred one for this motor...its the newest.

I'm swapping to the '730 also (its been sitting in my back seat for a while now) and got some schematics from Blue1989RS last summer so I am also very interested in this topic.

Is the AZTY bin the one for the auto trans? I'll have to check the memcal to see which one I got before doing the swap.

BTW, the '302 to '730 hack is riddled with errors which I found using Blue1989RS's schematics and my service manual. I pointed out several errors to the author who happens to be the DFI and ECM board's moderator but he wasn't much interested in correcting them.

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

yes, the azty is for the auto. you'll need 88.xdf for editing in tunerpro. I like tunerpro r/t cause you can datalog, edit, and make changes to the bin "on the fly" with the ostrich (from moates.net) hooked up to the ecm (that's the setup I have, I love it). You can use one program for all of it instead of 2 or 3!
Anyone have any info/schematics on repining a '730 to run a '747 code mask? i.e. $58 code...for boost...

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

I've got the $88.xdf, TunerPro, and Flash n Burn. I had the manual tranny bin on my hard drive that crashed recently. I'll have to look it up again. I'm not in a real hurry since I still have to do the '730 swap which I won't attempt until my Z28 is up and running again so I'll have something to drive if I screw up the RS!

The '302 swap thread on DFI & ECM is open, you can post additional corrections to it at any time. TechSmurf authored the swap thread while I moderate the DFI & ECM board.

For the BINs: AZTY is the latest for an auto trans, and BAWX is the latest for stick trans. I have them both if you need either.

RBob.

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

Sorry for the confusion RBob. Yeah, it was Techsmurf who didn't want to hear what I had to say, not sure if he took it personally or just didn't care, no matter. I did post what I had found on that thread at the time (this was last summer).

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

Thought I'd bring this one back up for a status report. I'm still working the azty.bin to make it idle better with my cam. I did a quick measurement and discovered I'm running 60kPA at idle, eek! I also tuned down the VE tables to an o2 reading of 100mV and it still smells really rich. Not sure as to how much lower I'll go, but it all seems to be going well. Just a huge learning curve when you toss in learning the mask and tuning!

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

100mv seems really low...I don't know how it'd still be rich. Mine bounces around between about 600mv and 1000mv!

Re: V6 Prom scenario's

What cam are you running? I think you told me once but I've forgotten.

I might have more going on, something broken mayhaps? All I know is that the 302 ecm had no problems handling this, where the 730 is struggling. I hope its not my swap hack.
