Considering an engine swap? Read This.

If you are considering an engine swap in the pursuit of more power, please be aware that The RWD 60* iron-headed engines are the only DIRECT bolt in applications that fit 3rd Gen V6 F-bodies.

This includes the the following engines:
2.8L from the Fiero, Camaro, Firebird and TBI/Carb'd S10's
3.1L from the Camaro and Firebird (1990 - 1992)
3.4L from the Camaro and Firebird (1993 - 1994)

FWD engines are not a direct bolt in, there is a lot of work to be done to make them fit and function.

The 90* engine such as the 3.8L 3800 series II motors require a lot of work to make them fit. Some items include engine mounts, x-members, transmission, ECM and wiring harness.

The 60* trans/engines have a different bolt pattern then the 90* engines, therefore will not fit if just the 90* engine is swapped in.

If you are considering an engine swap to a RWD 60* V6 platform, namely the 3.4L, you can find the write up for the 3.4 Swap Boogie by the late KED85 here: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/v6...3.4#post365852 (How to do the 3.4 long block swap Boogie! :))

Another member, Dale has also made a very readable version that is very well orginized based on his swap. That can be found here:
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/v6....4#post2689811 (Dales 3.4 swap tech artical.)

He was one of the first members to swap a 3.4L into a 3rd gen F-Body and the first to do a complete write-up on how to do it.

If anyone has any information that should be added to this thread, please feel free to PM me and let me know, as long as I find the information to be accurate and worth posting, I will gladly do so.
