Salvaged Camaro

Well its been a good 4 months since someone hit me in the parking lot of my local grociery store. They hit me where the right front fender, hood and front bumper meet, I had to replace them all. Getting that fixed and repainted wasnt that bad, it was getting a salvaged title. Yep thats right State Farm totaled my car, because the agent wanted to buy it from the junkyard. The report said that my car had faded paint, was covered in rust, the body panels didnt match, had several scratches up the side, and my interior was shot.
Well thats pretty funny because i had my car completley repainted less than 8 months before the accident and was kept in the garage, unless i was at work or school. I had a brand new headliner and seats out of a 97 trans am. I have enclosed a few pics. The agent is suppose to talk to the car owner before he totals the vehicle, well he never did, he went back to the office and totaled it that day. He also said that my cragar SS series wheels and my subwoofers in the back would have to stay in the vehicle. I would really like to wash the insurance adjusters car in BRAKE FLUID, that would show him faded paint. So i urge everyone who has State Farm insurance, to get rid of them and yes i had FULL coverage on the camaro, $155 a month for two years and they have me $2,000 for the car. I bought it back from them for $300. I hate insurance companies, how come you have to pay them to get your car back, when it was your car to begin with? The pictures below is the exact way the car was when the adjuster saw it. Sorry for my poor grammar this makes me very hot thinking about it.

I do the same thing and someone always HAS to park right next to me. Its really not that terrible, but for some reason it irritates me to no end. Glad to see your "old rusted out" car back.

With state farm if you have work done to your car it is covered if you have the receipts or have an appraisal from a certified aprraiser. That is what I did with our car and the insurance agent assured me that I was covered no matter what.

WOW man that is some serious BS, it may be to late, but I would call the insurance company and tell them the guy who evaluated ur car was completely blind....if he says the car is rusting/miss match painted parts tell them HELL no send another guy to come look at it,tell em u just painted it so that guy must have made a mistake, u should have seen my car when it was hit (theres a thread about it kickin round here somewhere) ne ways I was all up the insurance *** to fix it, and guess what, they did, u gotta be persistant

on the plus side u paid 300 to get it back and with the extra 1700 u got left u should be able to fix it with a few bucks to spare, good luck on fixin her back dude

Re: Salvaged Camaro

I guess I don't understand why anyone who works on their OLD car would pay for full coverage insurance? You can't tell me that it's better because the math doesn't lie.

Over two years you paid them 3720 dollars to get back 1700 and a salvage title. If you had given them the minimum insurance allowance and then saved the rest in a money market you could have fixed your car and had money left over.

I wouldn't advise anyone against State Farm; all insurance companies are equally crooked. I would advise anyone who isn't making a car payment to pay the minimum required for insurance and save the rest in a "repair the car" fund for later.

Just my opinion.

Forget that, you need to cover HIM in brake fluid. What an a-hole.

I wanted to fight the insurance company but my grandpa for some reason layed down for them. The car is in his name. We only have the minamal amount of insurance on it now.Its probably too late now to do anything. I guess the car must be pretty nice, for some one to go through that much trouble.

You pay for your car because the insurance company paid you 2,000 dollars for the car. Then you brought it back. I hate state farm. Wife got a reckless driving ticket and they drop us. We have been with them over 20 years.

Re: Salvaged Camaro

YOU KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE FIRST OFFER THEY GIVE YOU. A SIMULAR THING HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AND I TOLD HER THAT I WOULD NOT LET SETTLE FOR LESS THAN 2500. ( SHE WAS TRYING TO OFFER 2000) IT WAS A 88 V-6 WITH NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT THE ACCIDENT MESSED UP THE FRAM AND THE WHOLE DRIVERS SIDE. (BUT I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE RADIO OUT AND SOME OTHER THINGS OUT.)AND SOME HOW BROKE THE FRONT SEAT. BUT THE INSURANCE SETTLED WITH ME FOR 2450.

You could report your insurance company to the insurance comission. They investigate insurance companies.

Re: Salvaged Camaro

the only reason (maybe) that the adjustor did that was to make it affordable to buy the car back. i had a similar problem when my 85 was totalled by the insurance company. they gave me a good offer for it, but the buyback was crazy...
