Trade would be cool. I dont have a need for powder work right now. but if you think of something eles that you would lie to trade for let me know. What part of Ohio are you in. When the time comes I will have a lot to powder coat.
I like the idea of the wing under the rear end. Wonder How it would look under my Irock? I have a wing off a car that looked like a 3rd gen TA but it said fire halk on it. The wing has more of a curl on the lip than a normal one and the legs are not taller but longer. Allso Gumby I have more of them vents and the scoops. So if you need any let me know. the vents are 3rd gen TA and side scoops are 2nd gen TA. With your air flow how about putting the 2nd gen side scoops in to the top of the car.
Do you have any pics of the wing. Sounds like one I had seen on a few Corvettes. If its the one I'm thinking it was made by motion. It was aftermarket only. They made Firehawks in the 3rd gen model years, but they were so expensive you rarely see them. They were above the GTA. I really wanted the center console put of one. Really cool. It solves the issues of the console sides pulling away.
Made a deal to buy this, $200, but till I can get it home and go over it I am up inthe air if the carb stuff comes off it to fix the Firebird, or use the Firebird to fix it then drop a V8 into the Bird. Either was I need to get a working 6 going.

Just a note, did ya know these s10/s15s have a front airdam/spoiler that would work great on the back of a 3d gen to help hid stuff and and and and and
at rock auto you can get one new with fog light/exhaust holes for only $17.
not a typo.
And its more of a spoiler GFX then an air dam, it to far forward for that and not just a straight hunk of plastic like a typical dam, wraps around n has a nice lip design like a nascar truck.

The pins are on the outside of the hatch seal but they are on the inside of the car, just on the other side of the tail lights.
Now you can see I cut a bracket and dented the metal towards the back of the lights some, both just to make life easy, I didn't want to try n fish behind that bracket to tighten n adjust them, and if I cut them off some I wouldn't of had to dent the metal some.
But you can't see any of that stuff, its all hidden by the pannels in the back. Ill clean it up later, I got bigger fish to fry for now.
thats rubber coating over spray, not a burn mark on the factory body seem goop.

Depends on your height, IM tall, head almost scraps the roof inside and so I need to look or scrunch down to see more then 4-5 cars lengths back. Lowered my rear view mirror a bit but it could go lower.

gumby, did you do put those vents in the sail panels?
Not yet still working on the planing, was working on it yesterday trying to make a cardboard template of that area to get an accurate placement on both sides but it was a PITA that didn't work out.
which means its probably gonna be an eyeball job, which is never 100% the same. [ like my hood scoops n rear deck pins]
Though can't wait to get them in to see how it improves air flow in the car, if it sucks or anything I can just block em off n just run em for looks, since once the holes are cut...............
But even cool breezey sunny days are hell, air just wont come through the cabin.

To get them both lined up the same on both sides wasn't easy, also had to position them a tad different for that, no big trouble with the hole cut, a test fit and some dremil grinding got it to fit snug, as I under cut the hole, then you can see the globby mess, using 2in thick foam sheet and white paintable caulk to box off n seal the area, gonna paint the inside pocket white, so it will all blend in or if ya look through the white vents, ya can't really see anything.
Still more to go to make it rain proof, just takin a food break.

Well you can see where its goin from here, once its all tested and ready to be installed for good, I will poprivit them on, just got 2 screws in the corners right now. Now to tackle the other side.

Well it rained last night, and while there was some water in the pocket, non got inside, and 2 more nights of rain comming so its getting the full test.
Wont be able to start the other side for a while now.

The drawing is the inside sheet metal, there is a metal ridge that sticks up part way through, [look up at the hole cut pic above] which I used as an anchor point. I used some metal to make a flap/ramp.
Now its probably not the final solution but was quick n worked.
Kind of thinking if I can get some thin rubber that would work well and only allow 1 way air flow, which I do only want it going out.

Seen your sliding window post and have thought of that, it can be done and will only cost money to make it work, a good glass guy can get it done no problem. Problem with mine is its not very square. So it would have to be sort of in the middle some, as whole glass sections could not slide sidways enough.
To have it come out right would just cost more then Im willing to spend right now. But would be cake if the window was more square.
But so far the one is doing fine with several days of rain.

i am still looking for a good affordable notchback. so ill keep that in mind as i look. that hawks one is like 650 bucks plus shipping.
I've been away from 3rd gens for a long time, and now that I check back in, the 1st post I click on has... redraif! Oh that brings back memories... laughing at that car back in HS - I kinda figured the owner was approx. my age at the time and would grow out of being a retard. But alas it seems to be a lifelong affliction... what's worse is it appears to be spreading. Hes got disciples now! And they are taking it to a whole new level! Rear facing tach, C-pillar vents, Awesome! ROFLMAO. Thx for the laugh guys
Got the other side done today, was kinda easier / quicker cept one of the tabs broke off the leading edge. So I had to use more screws on it, 1 in each corner, and 2 in the middle of those, cept the leading edge.
Much more airflow but if the air is hot too, doesn't do very much.
as for maksik7, your a jerk. Go join another website. Why would you even look at someone elses post and clown on them? Everyones car is there own interpretation.

Here's a right side, engine on stand hiding some rough spots in the rear, still gonng get rear glass wide body fenders so I don't want to spend allot on fixing it. Also the car is all dull, if you look at the hatch in my sig and the pic you can see. To much rain latley washes it clean n makes the primer parts look real dull.
Few mins of work and a can of magic spray make the whole car nice n shiny like sig pic.

I get asked about my gas cap by PM every month or so, bought time I posted the info.
Its a semi vented gas cap id call it, using my mouth to blow, it takes a few PSI to vent but the bonus part is the cap has a built in flapper door in it.
So it never has to come out to fill up, just stick the nozel right into it.

Car update, Im done with the 2.8 in it, still runs good but to many funky computer and electrical stuff. Its coming out to go into the s15 and be regualr hei dizzy n carb. Only big goal for this summer was the Alston SFCs and those are done. If the floor rust gets wose while it sits n waits to get torn down, I know its not gonna sag in the middle.

On a non related note, how does that portable garage in the background hold up in snow load? Not that it snows here in GA, but the RS is getting retired for a rebuild on wife's orders.

Holds up great as long as you coat or paint it with something so the sun can't dry rot it. Which I did but not all the way, I only did the top 3/4 and had the paint line right on the two end support bars, DUMB, ripped right there on me but not cause of to much load.
Now I got a 2nd top over top of that one and the very first thing I did was paint the whole thing. Another dumb move, fresh tarp is to slick, needs a yr of sun and rain to get some bite, then paint the full thing. takes a good 5+ years of sun to hurt it, so the first yr is ok, just roughs it up. Long as its not fresh slick, regular cheap house paint works great but hear they make special stuff for that too.
Like to have another one. Like any addition, its soon full

Ah so this is the thread I missed about the notchback & vents & etc. Looks good! I always liked subtle body-mods; just enough for a normal person to miss, but an enthusiast to do a double-take on.

Though should just count my blessing having a good 10 years of good reliable running with a half fried ECM. But I think at this point its the car that wants a change more then me

This is a pretty cool Bird I'd have to say. I'm usually not a big fan of modifying a car's appearance but you executed it well. The notchback hatch looks pretty sweet. I'm considering one down the road. Oh and did you ever get the rear tach working?
Well it needs painted again as the pass side door and notchback are just in primer as both are recent changes.
Front half just needs buffed out but Ill probably paint the whole thing again.
Depends on how the money comes in, if I can swing the wide body rear fenders sooner ill do that first, but if other projects get in the way, Ill probably paint it for shiets n giggles just so it looks nicer as is. [Already got the paint.]

What a trip people are actually on here clowning on this guy. I don't really agree with the butchering he's doing, but still it's his damn car lol. But I have been wondering for some time about how this sort of set up would look with vents on the pillars. I have been drawing up plans for a rear mount twin turbo with intakes inside the pillars. Now I know it will look good.

And get some tiny intercoolers to mount behind the louvers.
To each his own, but I think that car will look sweet once its all the same shade of paint and is dropped down a couple inches.
