i have a 1992 camaro 3.1l it needs more power. i wanted to get some advice. i want to install a cam. it needs to be computer compatible. and anyone done theirs and what do u thing the power increase was.
A cam change alone isn't going to net you a whole lot unless you get a pretty lumpy cam, but as restrictive as the stock induction is and being that it's a noninterference motor you can get away with alot of duration. The limit is valve lift with the stock heads. I think you're limited to ~.450 lift unless you cut the guides down. You really need to consider getting the exhaust opened up before you look elsewhere, that's where you're going to find the most gains. Then induction, heads and cam.
Yeah I have a bunch of exhaust leaks and was looking at some pacesetterse + my old 3" exhaust from my other car before a cam. Even if the cam only adds 10 hp, thats $10 per HP, not a bad ratio comapred to some other mods....
