and does anyone know what a 3.4 with a 3500 top end swap would sound like with a punched out cat and flowmaster?
Hey hows it going and nope havent had one yet. lol
Wife just had baby. Little girl Gianna 8.6 ounces.
Now that the baby is here I have a chance to work on my car. As for the exhaust still looking but I think I'm going to do what bird did....but my mind is set for Magnaflow.
Still looking guys thanks for asking.

Congrats on the baby, I think it's time for protective clothing a chair and some goggles for him/her? to watch you work on the car lol never to early to start, that kinda what happened to my brother lol.
and magnaflow will sound great, but heres a ? for anyone how will the other mufflers sound with a gp inplace of the cat?
Check FloPro. Have the Vforce muffler on my 'Bird (it's a V8) and sounds really nice, wonder what it would be like on the V6...Here's a link to all the sound clips.
has anyone ever put larger diameter pipe like 2.5 in. with no mufflers just a cat? We had a 97 nissan truck that we played with mufflers on and finally just used a cat and no muffler and i was wondering if anyone had done this to a maro.
Congrats on the new baby and if you do go with Magnaflow it will sound good also but cost more than the Flows do .
Hey bird good news. tomarrow (monday) I'll be taking my camaro to a show. There going to put a Magnaflow cat. They gave me a price range from 300.00-350.00 to install. For that much I hope the dirty dog puts piping from the cat. I'm going to do what told me with the piping size. Seems like a good price. I dont think its that much due to me pulling off the orginal muffler.

your right its light and is good but we need the back pressure.
Yes you need very little back pressureto keep it in tune though and $300 - $350 for the muffler and tailpipes and the intermediate pipe is good includeing the labor . Let us know how it sounds .

Alright guys finally got the work done. Here in Tucson, AZ I recommend a place called
Exhaust Works - Broadway/Swan
I got the Magnaflow exhaust catback. 3 inch stainless tip . Sounds like a V8 at idle and high RPM.
Total amount for labor and parts came out to $276.00 flat. I'm very happy and I should have a clip for you guys ASAP....
Bird I think my fuel pump or fuel regulator went out...had a very very very hard time trying to drive my camaro over there lol. It seems like I'm not getting an fuel so thats what stopping me on putting up a clip. Car wont start LOL
I'll PM you bro...

Reason: extra info
My option would be the muffler with the best flow and sound....
Magnaflow
After doing a lot of research and asking around as well as hearing clips and seeing whats out there I think Magnaflow would be a good option for our V6. I decided to go with it and I'm very impress and shocked on how aggressive it sounds.

Tight, I know my dads 350 with Flowmasters sounds great. And besides tuners thats all the exhaust knowledge i have. We do exhaust at work all the time, but its always ricers or 98 Sebrings...
Can i get a clip of a 2.8 with magnaflows if its not too much.

As soon as I get my baby going again I'll get you a clip....even thou I have a 3.1 it will still sound very alike to a 2.8 with Magnaflow.
So entrig00 you only have a single exhaust tip ? And Schwinny did you check out my vid of my car with the Flowmaster with a 3in inlet and dual 2.5in outlets and 4in tips and a Glasspack inplace of the cat ? It was originally for a v8 car so it will flow better for a v6 .

I went with dual. And I did what you had just went with Magnaflow. 3 in inlet and dual 2.5in and in stead of 4 I went with 3in tips. As for glasspack inplace of the cat....I so wanted to do that but I know I wouldnt pass emissions. Sounds good and just need to fix my boggle problem....
ok so i dont really know much bout exhaust...but ive asked couple people that kinda know something... and they recommend hi flow cat convert with straight pipe it...any1 know how this would sound...be loud as ****... to loud...would it sound good?

sry for sounding so nooby
If you run a hiflow cat and no muffler just pipe it will be load maybe to load. If you want it to sound good go with the hiflow cat or if you don't have emmissions check go with pipe or glasspack inplace of cat and run a Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler with 3in inlet and dual 2.5 in outlets and you can add 3in or 4in tips and it will sound great .

My tips may be 3in I can't really remember .And I PMed you .
dont apologize your good man....now as for straight pipe, dont know about that. Remember we need the back pressure. you should go to page 2 or 3 on here that way you can see the stats someone put up with the piping size...remember also you should look for performance and sound not just sound.

Well after reading the entire thread and saw how 89 birds sounded i liked it alot just deciding between the 80 series like he did or the magnaflow like you

Bird has a great sounding exhaust....I think sometime today I'll try to create that sound clip and video...
Now the huge reason why birds sounds like the way it does is because he took out the catl and replaced it with a glasspack. If your city requires an edmission for your car then you might not want to do that....
but it will make your camaro sound great like birds....
To clear things up for everyone . It is illegal in all 50 states to remove a cat and run anything in its place unless it is for offroad use so be advissed to be careful when replacing the cat and not putting one back in . If you want to be louder and still be lawful run a hiflow cat .

Be sure you don't get pulled over by a D*** cop and they check your exhaust . If you don't have a cat they can take your car and fine you up to $500,000 IIRC thats why later on I'm going with a hiflow cat .
I would be running a hiflow cat if I had the money to get one . Some of the universal cats are under $60 but I don't have the extra cash to get one yet .

So it looks like I might get to build a 3.4 sometime my dad has figured with gas prices and a v8 and 16 year old teen it would be to expensive.
And we don't want to waste a $400 exhaust sense before it was parked over 8months ago they had the exhaust done and it has a magnaflow so I will punch the cat out later after we build a new motor.
I was wondering why it sounded so good for a v6 I didn't know it had a new exhaust
I just got my exhaust done yesterday and got it back today and i like it very much...went with what 89bird did just no cat or glassbak went with just pipe there

And I bet it sounds great . How about a sound clip ?
the first thing i did to my 3.1l rs when i got it was chop off the muffler and put a straight pipe in its place. but with a hollow cat it sounded like a stock car so i put a thrush glass pack in the middle of the car and it sounds great.
