Check FloPro. Have the Vforce muffler on my 'Bird (it's a V8) and sounds really nice, wonder what it would be like on the V6...Here's a link to all the sound clips.

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

has anyone ever put larger diameter pipe like 2.5 in. with no mufflers just a cat? We had a 97 nissan truck that we played with mufflers on and finally just used a cat and no muffler and i was wondering if anyone had done this to a maro.

Hey bird good news. tomarrow (monday) I'll be taking my camaro to a show. There going to put a Magnaflow cat. They gave me a price range from 300.00-350.00 to install. For that much I hope the dirty dog puts piping from the cat. I'm going to do what told me with the piping size. Seems like a good price. I dont think its that much due to me pulling off the orginal muffler.

Hey anyone want a 40 series Flowmaster lol...

Yes you need very little back pressureto keep it in tune though and $300 - $350 for the muffler and tailpipes and the intermediate pipe is good includeing the labor . Let us know how it sounds .

Alright guys finally got the work done. Here in Tucson, AZ I recommend a place called
Exhaust Works - Broadway/Swan

I got the Magnaflow exhaust catback. 3 inch stainless tip . Sounds like a V8 at idle and high RPM.

Total amount for labor and parts came out to $276.00 flat. I'm very happy and I should have a clip for you guys ASAP....

Bird I think my fuel pump or fuel regulator went out...had a very very very hard time trying to drive my camaro over there lol. It seems like I'm not getting an fuel so thats what stopping me on putting up a clip. Car wont start LOL

I'll PM you bro...

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

Have we decided the best muffler?

Cause i crawled under my 2.8 today, and theres a gaping hole in my inlet on my stock muffler.

My firebird sounds like my four wheeler!!

What to buy, What to buy...

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

My option would be the muffler with the best flow and sound....

Magnaflow

After doing a lot of research and asking around as well as hearing clips and seeing whats out there I think Magnaflow would be a good option for our V6. I decided to go with it and I'm very impress and shocked on how aggressive it sounds.

Tight, I know my dads 350 with Flowmasters sounds great. And besides tuners thats all the exhaust knowledge i have. We do exhaust at work all the time, but its always ricers or 98 Sebrings...

Can i get a clip of a 2.8 with magnaflows if its not too much.

As soon as I get my baby going again I'll get you a clip....even thou I have a 3.1 it will still sound very alike to a 2.8 with Magnaflow.

So entrig00 you only have a single exhaust tip ? And Schwinny did you check out my vid of my car with the Flowmaster with a 3in inlet and dual 2.5in outlets and 4in tips and a Glasspack inplace of the cat ? It was originally for a v8 car so it will flow better for a v6 .

I went with dual. And I did what you had just went with Magnaflow. 3 in inlet and dual 2.5in and in stead of 4 I went with 3in tips. As for glasspack inplace of the cat....I so wanted to do that but I know I wouldnt pass emissions. Sounds good and just need to fix my boggle problem....

If you run a hiflow cat and no muffler just pipe it will be load maybe to load. If you want it to sound good go with the hiflow cat or if you don't have emmissions check go with pipe or glasspack inplace of cat and run a Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler with 3in inlet and dual 2.5 in outlets and you can add 3in or 4in tips and it will sound great .

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

dont apologize your good man....now as for straight pipe, dont know about that. Remember we need the back pressure. you should go to page 2 or 3 on here that way you can see the stats someone put up with the piping size...remember also you should look for performance and sound not just sound.

Bird has a great sounding exhaust....I think sometime today I'll try to create that sound clip and video...

Now the huge reason why birds sounds like the way it does is because he took out the catl and replaced it with a glasspack. If your city requires an edmission for your car then you might not want to do that....

but it will make your camaro sound great like birds....

I'm running a goerlich xlerator on my 3.8L. IMO the best sounding exhaust for v6. nice and throaty, yet smooth, and zero rasp.

To clear things up for everyone . It is illegal in all 50 states to remove a cat and run anything in its place unless it is for offroad use so be advissed to be careful when replacing the cat and not putting one back in . If you want to be louder and still be lawful run a hiflow cat .

I know that in grand ron where my grand parents live they don't have to, so we register some of our vehicles out there.

Be sure you don't get pulled over by a D*** cop and they check your exhaust . If you don't have a cat they can take your car and fine you up to $500,000 IIRC thats why later on I'm going with a hiflow cat .

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

I would be running a hiflow cat if I had the money to get one . Some of the universal cats are under $60 but I don't have the extra cash to get one yet .

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

So it looks like I might get to build a 3.4 sometime my dad has figured with gas prices and a v8 and 16 year old teen it would be to expensive.

And we don't want to waste a $400 exhaust sense before it was parked over 8months ago they had the exhaust done and it has a magnaflow so I will punch the cat out later after we build a new motor.

I was wondering why it sounded so good for a v6 I didn't know it had a new exhaust

I might try getting a sound clip this week.

Just got my Dynomax catback exhaust installed today. I feel like I gained a little power, but I'm not impressed at all with the sound.

Re: The best mufflers for V6 !!!!!

the first thing i did to my 3.1l rs when i got it was chop off the muffler and put a straight pipe in its place. but with a hollow cat it sounded like a stock car so i put a thrush glass pack in the middle of the car and it sounds great.
