when these cars have something wrong they are just evil aren't they lol. sorry I never got a sound clip : / but I might go buy a 3.4 engine/trans from a 94 camaro for $300 tomorrow, it comes with the computer and everything.
I got a 2 1/4 inlet and 2" dual outlet from carquest last week. when I get my car back together I'll record a sound clip. Mine is currently in the middle of a huge tear down. It'll be a little bit.

no worrys man....look at me. Had it done and cant put anything on here because its still not running....I'm pretty tight with my money, but I think I might have to take it in for reals this time.
Sorry guys I know its been very long but I'll be changing out my fuel pump this coming Tue or Wed and by then I'm hoping my baby is up and runing that way you guys can finally check out the sound clip or the Magnaflow LOL
I had a short Supertrapp on my 2.8L firebird for a few years. That was back in the late 80's but it had the deepest V8 sound around at the time. I never got sick of it but went back to stock after growing tired of arguing with the state emmissions inspectors. http://www.supertrapp.com/product_se...t.asp?CatID=32
The Fiero in this sound clip has four Supertrapp mufflers and it doesn't sound very deep to me.
Check it out anyway. http://www.supertrapp.com/product_se...auto/index.asp
I've been following this thread for awhile, in hopes to get a good
sound for my 3.1l :]
And I happen to be getting some tuition money back from college this week;
so I'm planning on doing my exhaust this weekend (maybe?)
And was going to do, probably, the same as your exhaust.
thanks man!

Bring it on JosiahJudgement.
Haha yeah.
I just went outside and took a before clip of my cars exhaust.
My current exhaust is the stock dual outlet, but I've done a little
"modification" to it myself.
But I only have my cell phone right now, and since its dark outside
it decided to pick up the bugs chirping rather than my car
(doesn't pick up lower frequencies as easy).
So I'll try again tomorrow, haha.
Then after I put on mags then I'll take another clip and post it!
Here is my video. I don't know what it has all I know is that the catback is not stock. (At least according to the rust, that and for half of it's life it was owned by someone who works at a muffler shop.) I plan on replacing it with a Cherry Bomb Glasspack soon.
If anyone has heard the same tapping noise from the engine before and knows what it is I'd appreciate if you told me but lets not make the thread go off topic.

Great clip, trying to figure out what muffler you got there. on the very bottom of the muffler it usual has a stamp of what it is, something you should check out. I think you have a flowmaster
As for the nocking...yup I hear it and dont know but I'm sure its a knocking in your block right?

I just looked and it was completely bare. Nothing on the bottom of it but some dirt. It might be possible that it's on the top where I can't see but I really don't know.
Knocking is coming from the engine bay, I think it might be the passenger side but I could just be imagining it. Needs an oil change whatever the case.
I think I'm going to put a flowmaster 80 series on my 2.8l. After all these clips I think this is my final choice. Sounds good and is cheap to buy. Perfect!
anyone wanna lend me a camera to get a good sound clip? lol.
I think I will try talking my brother in to holding my cell near the exhaust this week to get a clip. does anyone know if a bad head gasket will change the sound any?

It is a good choice for the price but it doesn't flow as good as a Magnaflow , but is good for the money .
Alright,
just got my new exhaust installed today.
Magnaflows of course!
Not only do they sound great,
but it cost me $160 out the door.
Ill try to get a clip on here soon!
Glad you liked it and thats what I paid for mine also. Do you still have the stock catal? I was told once you changed that out it sounds a lot better....I'm looking into doing that next

Hey nightmare that was my first choice but loved the Magnaflow. Hey hope I can hear a sound clip.

yup it would make a huge change. I speaking of that I have a leave on the passanger side, for those of you guys that know how a 91 3.1 v6 is on the passanger side you all know how much of a pain in the *ss its going to be to fix that leak.
Bird whats up. As for my camaro yes and maybe not. I wasnt having that problem that I had for a while then next thing you know it I started again but was told that I should of reset my IACV when I had installed it, you know me just put it in and there I'm done. So before even doing that we were trying to put the camaro on the computer to see why it bogs when I hit the gas. The computer was not picking up crap so we removed the computer for a long time and was thinking of getting a new one but didnt. We connected the computer back up and next thing you know it the camaro is running fine and I'm able to rev without it farting up. I think I did a hard rebot to all the sensors by doing that. And I dont think you have to manuel set the IACV since I have a standard car. I took it around the block and it ran good now just have to take it for a long drive....scared to lol.
People sorry if you had to read this and go throu some brain farts but 89-Bird has been trying to help me out with my camaro and gave me a lot of tips on the exhaust. If you guys need help or questions answered about our v6 and exhaust as to what and what not to install ask 89-Bird. Great help and cool dude.

hmm, well my car sounds good for being a stock engine and having a bad head gasket, and having just a magnaflow muffler, now if only my dad would bring it in the garage so we could pull the engine/tran's.

Thats right putting the 3.4 right?
what are you going to do with the 3.1 and tranny once you pull it out?
what are you going to do with the 3.1 and tranny once you pull it out?
take pics man....
Well was gonna go buy a 3.4 engine/trans from a guy but my dad kinda screwed me on that
So I am trying to get him to do what we had done to are 85 jeep cherokee we used to have 2.8 that was bored, stroked, dad designed the cam for it, and got it port and everything made 227rwhp that was carbed so we think we can get a good bit more with the mpfi.
I have a 2.8 and a tranny that needs to be rebuilt in my car. we are getting a 2.8 long block with a comp cam for $100 hopefully.
entrig you are welcome and don't be afraid to drive it . Drive it normal or a little harder . Purple82TA that sounds good for a Z24 . C_D_Z your car does sound pretty good for what it is and will only sound better after the work you plan on doing .

Yes they do give a little bit of a raspy sound in higher rpms.
like how bird has a glasspack instead of a cat, I guess people that don't want the raspy sound on there 4cylinder imports do that sometimes, my freind wants to do it to his 1.8t GTI.
Bird any way to kill the rasp when we are at high rev?
Come on bird I'm sure you got some kind of trick...
you can always punch the cat and see if that helps or do a glass pack or something.
So I got my new engine and we aren't gonna do to much to it sense it only has 55000 miles on it if not less it's from an 87 s10, I might put a 3.1 crank in if I can talk my dad in to it.

Mine has little to no rasp with running the GP and 3in inlet dual 2.5in outlets with 3 or 4in tips . You can get a high flow cat that can handle up to 460 cid engines for around $100 + .
