installing a desktop computer..

Where should i put it? money is not a concern so a costom case to fit it where i need it is fine, but i intend to put at least a single 12" subwoofer in the trunk area where the T-Tops would go (since i dont have T-Tops) but where can i put my computer? any suggestions? has anyone done this here?

Awww, only one sub? I'm putting two today.
As for the computer, the passanter compartment doesn't have much room to work with.

Re: installing a desktop computer..

I'm not sure. Under the carpet is just metal. Uhh. Go under and have a friend up to and knock where you want to drill, see if anything important is. I don't know if firebird interior is the same as camaro, but you can mount it on the side of the AC thing. I'll add a pic of where later.

Just get a slim tower. Small enough to slide under the seat.

Re: installing a desktop computer..

if you built a mini-itx platform or nano-itx you could put it up behind the dash and no one would know it was there.

Re: installing a desktop computer..

What I plan to do with mine is to put it in the compartment where my rear "glove box" used to be behind the driver's rear wheel. You'll need a KVM switch to do this, however, as you'll need a lot more than 6 feet of monitor control cables as well as power and ground to the PC.

BTW, under the hump between the rear seats is mostly nothing important. Just don't hit the fuel pump wiring running down the middle. However, why would you put a PC there? That just about guarantees a break-in (looks a lot like a CD changer from a distance, right?).

Re: installing a desktop computer..

That's a good point. Even if they do break in, insurance money! They'llgive you a lot for the window, just go to the junkyard for the window, pay like 50 bucks, and they will give you the money for the computer, just buy the computer and the window and pocket the rest.

Re: installing a desktop computer..

I like the rear glovebox area, or under the seats, as the best idea.

If you can build your own custom box, the sky's (hanging on the wall?) the limit! I have a friend does these for "competition". Way cool stuff!

Re: installing a desktop computer..

oh ****, didnt even think of that area in the back, i got one side occupied by the spare tire, the other side is completely empty, i could just skeleton the machine, run the power supply unit outside the box mounted on the carpet, and all that jazz. great idea! ill check it out!
