MPFI to carb questions

I want to take off the mpfi off my engine and put a reg. carb and manifold, could anybody assist me in what year intake to get it off of what engine. I am putting 3.1 heads on a 2.8 block. I dont like mpfi for bracket racing, that why I want carb.

find an older 2.8 car and pull the intake. or maybe the 2.8 s10 intake is the same?

Is it just that easy? Swapping intakes?

It is that easy, also depending on what 3.1 (iron) heads youre referring to, theyre identical to the 2.8 (iron) heads.

Re: MPFI to carb questions

ya its that easy. and yes the s-10 had the same motor in certain years. i think its just simple stuff to change like maybe the fuel sending unit.(maybe)

I don't know about the 3.1 heads, but just do a search on it.. maybe that will help. people swap them all the time.

Re: MPFI to carb questions

search craigslist in your area under all sort of keywords to find parts cheap.
Like jimmy, s10, s15..................

they put them carbed ones in the "trucks" longer and allot more.

I still have that option on my plate but I am not chainging the base bottom intake. What ever I do, if I go carb Im not changing it.

blower deal kept falling through, last thing to end it was everyone sayin ya can't use an air only blower with a carb like he did. Though his adapter would of made going carb lots easier when keeping the stock MPFI lower intake in place. Im not changing it.

answer: rubber expanding freeze plug type repair do-dads to pluf injector holes. They can hold back hot coolant, and the intake sucking with just pull em in tighter as they are tapered. A blow out would be rare and from only a severe backfire that will make ya not care about the $2 plug coming out.
